    INTRODUCTION

Ask and it will be given to we; seek and we will find; knock and the door will be opened to us.

    MATTHEW 7:7

Here we will discover the secrets that lie within the Ancient Mysteries of the universe and learn how to put them to work for us.

We shall know the truth and the truth shall make us free.

    JOHN 8: 31, 32

Over the years I have had a long and varied career. My first jobs were for manufacturing companies, beginning with piecework, where I was paid according to the amount of products I produced. I next became a cashier for a major retail store. Following that I worked for an insurance agency and later for an investment firm. Later I entered retail sales management. I also spent time working in a hospital. For a time, I supported myself as an independent artist. In each of these positions I learned skills that would benefit me later in life.

In college I received several degrees, AA, BA, and MEd. My master was English where I studied the history of language as well as literature, including the great authors of history and the classical myths. My minor was Social Studies where I studied the growth of knowledge from the stone age and ancient history through the middle ages and up to the present time.

As a teacher I became the head of the social studies department and was a cooperating teacher for Brown University. I also earned the title of Worshipful Master of Freemasonry. As we will see, each of these activities contributed to the knowledge of life revealed in this book.

At the time I began my studies I did not fully realize what I was looking for. Many years ago I was going through a spiritual crisis. I then began a search for the meaning of life. That search took me down many paths. Along the years the nature of my question changed. Initially I looked at what was then my own religion, Lutheran. I wanted to know what Lutherans believed. Realizing that Martin Luther was a Catholic priest, I next looked at Catholicism. If I was to understand what Luther believed I needed to understand what it meant to be Catholic. I then asked, since Jesus was Jewish, what would have been the Jewish beliefs at that time. Looking back further I asked what Moses would have believed since he was educated as an Egyptian. Furthermore, as Moses looked at the faith in the land of Sinai, how would that affect his beliefs? Since Abraham came from Ur, how would he, as a Chaldean, have understood reality? I became aware also that they would have had contact with the beliefs surrounding them. I looked into them to find what they might have said.

To understand these ideas I connected with psycho-dynamics. The dictionary defines psycho-dynamics as the sum total of human behavior and attitudes. It is the interaction of various conscious and unconscious mental or emotional processes, especially as they influence personality, behavior, and attitudes, and includes the motivational forces acting especially at the unconscious level. Psycho-dynamics is the combined powers of the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. The aim of psycho-dynamics is to stimulate our power of thought and expand our levels of consciousness so that we can achieve our highest potential.

Many people believe that intelligence levels remain constant and that not much can be done to raise them. The brain actually does change throughout our lifetime. When we choose to become more intelligent, more creative and function at higher levels we can do it. As we move through life we grow through several levels of consciousness, overcoming our instinctual fears, becoming more intellectually self-aware, and creatively expressing our intuition through wisdom, power and love. Throughout each day we pass through cycles of consciousness that increase and lessen. We can concentrate on important mental challenges when our mind is most alert and reflect to find creative insight into a problem when our conscious mind is quieter.

Our DNA, located in every cell of our body, contains our genes that provide the instructions for our function, growth and development. At conception, we received genes from our two parents. These genes hold memories. Our parents received their genes from their parents, and this process goes back and back and back to the very beginning. Our genes contain all our history since our ancestors first were born onto this planet, many lifetimes ago.

All the strengths and wisdom of our ancestors are stored in our genetic memory. Genetic memory is also called collective unconscious. These genes give us the highest opportunity for accessing and developing our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual abilities. We have twelve strands of DNA. Each strand provides us with a different level of awareness. Scientific studies find that we can turn our genes on and off by our thoughts, feelings and emotions. When we awaken, activate and unite all twelve DNA strands we develop access to all knowledge wisdom. When we cultivate a good combination of each of the brain waves we can take full control of our mind and our life.

Level one began at birth using Low Beta Waves associated with sensory feedback. This provides us with the courage to overcome our fears and move ahead. Next, at level two, we began to apply the Beta Brainwave Range, the normal state of wakeful consciousness associated with alertness. Then, at level three, we applied High Beta Waves that help us to get ideas quickly. At the higher end of Beta, the brain moves into level four, the Gamma brain wave patterns that focus our mind. At the next level, five, Hyper-Gamma, our imagination shapes our thinking. Level six, Lambda then increases our state of consciousness providing us with inspiration through meditation and visualization. The next range, level seven, Alpha links our conscious, waking mind, with our unconscious mind and increases our creativity. Next, at level eight, we reach the Alpha / Theta Bridge, the balance point between our mental and emotional states. Just above this level, the level nine Theta Brain Waves awaken our intuition, allowing us to gain access to the power of our subconscious mind and providing us with the ability to accept and live within diversity. Following this, at level ten, the Theta / Delta Bridge allows us to access our long-term memory. Next, at the eleventh level, Delta Brainwaves tap into our genetic memories of the universal mind. Level 12, Epsilon is our highest state of consciousness, bringing us the awareness of total unification.

The masters of the ancient world understood the dimensions of the mind and the implications they held for the nature of mankind. They saw inferences that were significant when understood properly and they recognized the importance enough to pass their knowledge on to the future. They also saw potential dangers in the misuse of this knowledge so they recorded their wisdom in ways that were meant to be understood by those who would apply the awareness correctly.

In Greek Mythology Psyche was a young woman who loved and was loved by Eros and was united with him after Aphrodite’s jealousy was overcome. She subsequently became the personification of the soul. By this definition, Psycho ~Dynamics is the spiritual energy and power of the soul.

The medieval jester was the only one in the court who could tell the truth safely, for he was never meant to be taken seriously. The wizard challenged the jester to discover the Elixir of Life. Reading this book we will discover the Elixir of Life. Indeed, the Elixir of Life is readily available to us to lengthen our years and reduce our pain and suffering.

Next, this book will take us up the path to the Holy Grail. King Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table were given the quest for the Holy Grail. They sought the answers to the eternal mysteries that define the meaning of existence itself. The Holy Grail provides mental, emotional and spiritual growth. Like Percival, we will follow the path and pierce the veil that conceals the mysteries of our being.

Finally this book will deliver the mysteries of the Philosopher’s Stone. The philosopher’s stone was believed to be the element that could allow base metal to transcend into gold. Once the answers to these mysteries are within our grasp, we will possess the knowledge that can enable us to transcend our base metal into gold.

The History of The Ancient Mysteries

Based upon mathematical formulas of genealogy, we are all descended from greatness and genius. If we are of European descent, statistics say that we are probably a descendant of Charlemagne. Wherever in the word our family comes from we are related to those royal families, and ultimately to all royal families. My wife’s family, Stillman, has a direct lineage from William the Conqueror, Alfred the Great, the Kings of Scotland and Charlemagne. William I’s great grandparents were Eustace I, whose son Eustace II and Godefroy were the ancestors of the Boleyns. Godefroy was acknowledged by the pope to be a true bloodline successor of King David of Israel, and appointed to be King in Jerusalem.

Like Anne Boleyn, my mother’s family, Bolin, has a direct lineage from Eustace de Bouillon,Battle of Count of Boulogne. Eustace II, count of Boulogne and ancestor of the Bolins, fought at the Hastings and is one of the few proven companions of William the Conqueror, ancestor of the Stillman family. The Carolingian family was Jewish on the female lines, descended from King David. Machir Todros ben Judah Zakkai was also called, among the genealogies of the nobility, Duke Theodoric of Narbonne. The sister of Makhir was also the mother of Charlemagne. She was Bat Yehudit (Judith) who was also called Bertude or Bertha Goosefoot. She is known as the original Mother Goose. Many Nursery Rhymes and fairy tales such as Little Red Riding Hood are said to have come from her collection of Mother Goose Tales. Charlemagne’s Jewish name was David Kalonymus. William the Conqueror, the ancestor of the Stillman family, was also of the Royal House of King David through Machir.

The Counts of Boulogne descended from Angibert, a Frankish noble, who married Bertha, the daughter of Charlemagne. The royal genealogy states that Charlemagne was descended from the Roman Emperors Marcus Aurelius and Constantine the Great as well as from Queen Cleopatra and Philip of Macedonia, the father of Alexander the Great, who was descended on his father’s side, from Hercules. The wizard, Merlin’s family name was Aurelianus. He, too, is said to have descended from the family of Marcus Aurelius. The man identified as my birth father would have been descended from the high kings of Tara, the earliest kings of Ireland.

We, all have the blood of kings and wizards in our veins. We all have two parents, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents, sixteen great-great- grandparents—and the numbers quickly grow. Recent research provides proof that all Europeans today are descended from the same person who lived around the year 1400 BCE. At the same time, the constant moving of people means that almost everyone in the New World, even those of African or Native American ancestry, must be descended from English royalty and also from Muhammad through the daughter of the emir of Seville. The Emperors of Rome, the Pharaohs of Egypt, the philosophers of Greece, the prophets of Israel, and just about any other ancient historical figure must today be among our ancestors.

Just as we are descended from most of the people alive on the planet a few thousand years ago, several thousand years hence, each of us who bear children will be an ancestor of the entire human race. Even if we have no children, our speech and actions influence those around us and through them we affect the world of the future. Everyone’s roots go back to the same family tree, but each path to our common past is different, and following that path, brings its own reward.

Grandpa Charleson was Armenian. Situated in the Middle East, Armenia has been one of the earliest cradles of civilization going back as far as the Early Stone Age. Armenia included Mount Ararat, which biblical tradition identifies as the mountain that Noah’s ark rested on after the flood. Haik is the legendary patriarch and founder of the Armenian nation. According to the chronicles, Haik was the grandson of Japheth, who was a grandson of Noah. All Armenians are said to be descended from Haik.

What is now China was inhabited more than a million years ago. It has the oldest surviving civilization in the world. The early China civilization was ruled by a series of emperors referred to as the Son of Heaven. The establishment of the Xia Dynasty (21st—17 ccentury BC) by Yu the Great marks the end of the Primitive Society. From the Qin Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty there were 557 Emperors. The earliest people to populate Japan came from the mainland. If we are Asian, we are probably related to one of these emperors. We, too, are Sons or Daughters of Heaven. The history of India begins about 500,000 years ago. It is one of the world’s earliest civilizations, along with Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt. The Kuru kingdom corresponds to the beginning of the Iron Age in northwestern India, around 1000 BCE. Some of these kings were hereditary; other states elected their rulers. Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha. Was destined by birth to the life of a prince. With a royal bloodline, we could be connected to the Buddha.

In the 8th century BC, the ancient African region of Nubia conquered Egypt. Kushite kings founded Egypt’s 25th ruling dynasty. The early Egyptians considered their kings offspring of gods. Any African, related to these kings of Nubia, would be related to the pharaohs of Egypt, and therefore we are Sons and Daughters of Heaven.

The Paleo Indians were an ancient civilization that lived in the Americas during the Lithic stage (18000 BCE—8000 BCE). The Mi’kmaqs, one of the ancient peoples, are a tribe of Algonquian Indians inhabiting the eastern provinces of Canada, and they are closely related to various tribes of Maine commonly called the Wabanaki, or Men-of-the-East. Around 11,000 years ago they came from Asia via Siberia. My Grandma Charleson was maternally descended from the Algonquian Mi’kmaq tribe of northern New England and Eastern Canada. Native Americans define themselves in two ways, by tribe and by totem. Their tribe is defined through the father and the spoken language of each tribe is different. The totems are the same from tribe to tribe and determined through the mother. In this way, a member of the Mi’kmaq tribe may only speak the Mi’kmaq language and not be understood by another tribe. However, if the person is of the wolf totem through the mother, using hand signals, he or she can be understood by any member of any tribe who is also a member of the wolf totem. Thus, it is clear that there is a family connection either through one parent or the other, between all Native Americans.

The civilizations of ancient Chile, Peru and Bolivia were some of the oldest on earth. Around 200 AD, Kukulcan, a miraculous priest and teacher, became the founder of the Mayan kingdom and civilization. He became identified with the god. The House of Dawn was the mythological place of the first dynasty of the Inca. The first Inca, Manco Capac, stepped into this world and was engendered by a special ray of light. Then the brothers and sisters emerged, becoming the illuminated Ones, The Inca and the first Children of the Sun.

Gene study suggests that the Native Americans came from Siberia. The Sumerians had come originally possibly from Southern Siberia where much of their mythology can be traced to,and their language and culture was superimposed on the Semitic language and culture. Thus we see that mankind is one family. We are all connected, all related. Whatever continents our ancestors are from, we are a son or daughter of heaven, a child of the light. We are descended from those known as kings, wizards and gods or goddesses. Their blood is in our veins. Their wisdom and strength is within us.

One morning I awoke with a start. I had received a revelation in my sleep. I had discovered a similarity between the meanings of the names of the twelve tribes of Israel and those of the twelve apostles of Jesus. I realized that they defined a series of actions. I then associated them with the symbolic meanings of the twelve signs of the zodiac.

I later discovered many interesting developments, one of which was the history of The Lord’s Prayer. The Kaddish is a prayer found in the Jewish prayer service. Parts of the Kaddish date from the first century B.C.E. It is translated as follows:

Our Parent which art in heaven, be gracious to us, O Lord, our God; hallowed be thy name, and let the remembrance of thee be glorified in heaven above and in the earth here below. Let thy kingdom reign over us now and forever. The holy men of old said, Remit and forgive unto all men whatsoever they have done against me. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil thing. For thine is the kingdom, and thou shalt reign in glory forever and for evermore.

The beliefs of Akhenaten have been associated with The Teaching, of Khensu-hetep, called the Maxims of Ani. From the XVIII Dynasty of Egypt, (c. 1550-c. 1292 BCE).

The twelve lines, as numbered, correspond to Jacob’s twelve sons (in order): Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulon, Joseph and Benjamin, who become the ancestors of twelve tribes, with the exception of Joseph (number 11),who gave to his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim for whom two of the tribes were named. I discovered that the meanings of their names correspond with the descriptions of the twelve signs of the Zodiac as a process of growth and development. My research revealed that in all ancient religions the number twelve is applied, which relates to the twelve signs of the zodiac. The Sumerians in Mesopotamia developed their Zodiac based on twelve heavenly bodies named after the gods. Sumerian and other ancient governments always composed of twelve people. The twelve tribes of Israel were named after the 12 sons of Jacob. Horus, Osiris, Mithras and Jesus, among others, each had 12 disciples. The prominence of the number 12 implies that the story is an astrological allegory. Moreover, the twelve signs of the zodiac symbolically align with the twelve levels of awareness.

Along the way I kept coming into contact with another body of beliefs. I called it other. I do not believe that people deliberately choose to be in error. There must, I thought, be some similarity between us and the other. There seemed to be some consistency within this other belief over time, so I looked into it to see where the area of confusion might lie. My search has taken me back through time, and forward again, back through the age of reason to the age of faith, back through the times of the Roman Empire and the Greek city-states, back past ancient Egypt in the time of the pyramids and the time of the Sumerians. I found that there is described a strong connection between mankind and the spirit world. The connection is often described as the world tree. The tree connects the spirit world to the physical world.

I understood that they were speaking symbolically. I created my own symbol. I compared the system to an automobile. The engine of a car is connected to the wheels by the drive shaft. It is designed so that the engine drives the wheels. When there is a malfunction it is possible to jump start the car by rolling it and engaging the engine. In this case, the wheels turn the engine. The truth of the symbolism lies in the connection between the spirit world and the material world.

The highly honored Greek philosophers studied and learned their knowledge in Egypt. Herodotus traced many Greek religious practices to Egypt. The Greek and Roman myths parallel those in the Near East. Moses, and Jesus, although Jewish, were both educated in Egypt. Egyptian knowledge influenced the Hebrew Torah, the Christian Bible, and the Islamic Quran. The inner teachings of these sister-faiths are the inner truths of the Egyptian beliefs.

In the ancient world, Egyptian medical and magical expertise was highly honored. Witches used their knowledge of herbal medicines, charms and formulas to affect the life force. The witch was honored as wise and skilled in healing. Today they would be called nurses, doctors or pharmacists. Roman law had regulations against the practice of sorcery, evil incantations and spells to cause harm. Witch persecution gained momentum around the year 1233 when Pope Gregory IX instituted the Inquisition. The European witch hunts began in earnest during the fourteenth century and lasted for another 300 years, across France, Italy, Germany, Spain, England, Scotland, Austria, and Scandinavia with beheading, burnings and persecutions. Most of those persecuted were women.

In 14th century Europe, the religious establishment began to persecute, torture, and kill witches for practicing the manly arts of medicine. This was the same time that Joan of Arc was accused of being a witch because as a soldier she dressed in armor like a man. She was burned at the stake. She is now honored as a saint. On January 23, 1849, Elizabeth Blackwell became the first female doctor in the United States.

I came across a word, correspondences. The word correspondences relates to the similarities ideas have from one area of concentration to another. I wasn’t looking to prove or disprove a faith. I was looking for common ideas between divergent faiths, and moreover, why is the story being told? What I had been looking for was, in effect, the deeper inner meaning beneath the surface. I didn’t ask, Is this true or false? I asked, Why am I being told this story? What is the significance of the story? One night I awoke with a start. In my mind the pieces had merged and at once made sense. What I had found was not about faith or religion, but rather about mankind and the purpose for life.

I did not then realize it, but I was following in the steps of some of the most creative minds in the world. Like Pico della Mirandola and his associates in Florence, Michelangelo and daVinci, I was seeking spiritual enlightenment. In the fusion of mystical beliefs, the merging of Greek Gnosticism, Egyptian mythology, Christian scripture, and Jewish Kabbalah, I found a path to the source of all being, what Leonardo daVinci called the Prime Mover.

The secret mysteries are almost as old as humanity with a heritage that was already ancient before recorded history began. Archaeological research into early examples of Paleolithic art has shown that we humans have been employing meaningful ceremonial symbolism that equates with the symbolic nature of language to elevate ourselves for over 100,000 years.

In ancient times, almost all over the world, there were Mystery Schools. Cave paintings in Lascaux, France depict mystery schools as early as 40,000 B.C.E. Through the mystic passageways passed the enlightened ones of antiquity. A mystery is different than secret. A secret can be told, but a mystery must be experienced. In the first initiation they learn to master their emotions. In the second initiation the candidates learn clear perception and understanding through the right use of their intellect. The third initiation leads to spiritual illumination. The initiate would finally arise, possessing the revealed Secret Wisdom. Our goal is to discover the secret meaning of these ancient mysteries.

We are not trying to promote one faith or another. There is no one religion that stands apart from the others as the home of all truth. All religions possess the eternal truths. They all interact with each other, absorbing the wisdom of the past. The Vedic civilization existed 32000 years ago. The Vedas describe the Path of Ascension. The Tibetan Buddhists gave the world an equally famous picture called The Tibetan Book of the Dead.

Each divine being represented a different characteristic and aspect of life, being the lessons to be learned by humanity as they regained their God-self. More than 30 000 years B.C.E. Thoth was said to be the keeper and recorder of all knowledge. Thoth was known as Hermes Trismegistus in Greece, Mercury in Rome, Ningishzidda in Sumer, and as Enoch in the Old Testament. He is said to have created the first Mystery Schools. When we look past the surface of the myths we can find the wisdom and insight hidden within.

Enlightenment involves the blending of the male rational mind with the female sensitivity. It is for this reason that the gods and goddesses are seen to have worked together. Isis was the Grand Queen of Egypt, a powerful High Priestess in the Order of Ra, the Sun God and Creator who possessed the knowledge of spells and incantations. Thoth and Isis together were said to have created the Ritual of Life and the foundation of the mysteries of the initiation process and pathway of spirituality to rescue her husband, Osiris, helping him though the path of life, death and rebirth. The veil of Isis refers to the shadows between the material world and the state of true spiritual awareness.

The chosen bride of the pharaoh, the sovereign queen, was called Meryt, meaning God’s Blessing. She was known as the First Born Daughter of God, the Lover and Spouse of the pharaoh. Through her the next pharaoh is the Son of God. Meryt Reigns on the Throne with equal Royal Power, as Queen.

Initiated by the high priests into the mysteries of Isis and Osiris, the Pharaohs were taught that as Sons of the Sun, they had a higher purpose in life, not only to attain a union of the soul with the supreme reality, but to live by a high code of conduct. Hindus and Buddhists call this dharma.

The image of the king as a shepherd tending to the needs of his people dates back to the dawn of civilization, during the performance of the ritual of the Sacred Marriage with the goddess of the city, the king adopted the immortal aspect of the god’s personae to ensure good fortune for the all of the cities inhabitants. They were taught that dynamic action and self-expression is a revelation of the divine life force. Hindus and Buddhists call this karma.

About 2900 years B.C.E., Krishna was trained in the Temple-Schools of Egypt to restore the teachings back to their original purity and to bring others from grossness to enlightenment. Lord Krishna is considered to be the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Often, Krishna is pictured with his consort Radha. Their love had united them forever. A woman is as capable as a man, and can fully attain enlightenment. Just as the pharaoh’s chosen wife is believed to be the incarnation of Isis, Radha is considered as the incarnation of the Goddess Lakshmi, consort of Lord Vishnu. Krishna said, "Reshape ourselves through the power of our will… Those who have conquered themselves…live in peace.

About 2 800 years B.C.E., Fu Xi, founded the civilization of the Sons of the Sky in China. He is also an author of Xing, from which the I Ching, The Book of Changes, developed. Evidence from the Shang Dynasty (1600 BCE—1046 BCE) reveals that women were initiated into their own order.

About 200 years later, the great Essene Master Zoroaster originated the Magi. Ancient legends link the origin of the Essenes with Enoch, who, as we have said, is associated with the Egyptian Thoth. Priests and priestesses were trained at the Inner School. The historian Josephus describes the Essenes as a philosophical school like that of Pythagoras and as a kind of monastic order with rites. They practiced the virtues of love and holiness. The priesthood was initiated into the mysteries. The mission of the Essenes involved a particularly advanced consciousness carrying an impulse to revive the spiritual facets of mankind. They carried the ancient traditions as described by Aristotle, the outer and the inner. For them, the woman symbolically represented the pure hidden soul.

Zoroaster taught Pythagoras the path to purity. Pythagoras was a contemporary of Siddhartha Gautama Buddha and Lao Tze. Pythagoras was initiated into the Mysteries of Tyre and Byblos and after studying with the Magi he was initiated into the Chaldean Mysteries. After studying for about 20 years in Egypt under the teachers of Thales, Pythagoras was initiated into the Egyptian Mysteries. Early biographies present him as a god-like figure. After being initiated into the Ancient Mysteries, he establishing a famous school of philosophy, mathematics and natural science and married Theano, one of the female pupils. His wife was a remarkably able woman, his intellectual equal who inspired him. When Pythagoras died, his wife, who had become a teacher at the school, ran the school together with her two daughters.

The Eleusinian Mysteries (c.1800-1200 BC) symbolized the journey of the spirit from its
