Geri,
All that’s left for you, my friend, is to call R. Kelly, Keisha Cole and Jaheim to put some of your writings to music. R. Kelly wouldn’t blink twice about singing your spicier
poems. Keisha Cole and Jaheim’s voices would pair perfectly putting your sweet romantic
poems to music. I see your writing talent taking you in some new directions. Just sayin’ . . .

My Poetic Journey is a collection of poems written by a man who has been blessed with the God given talent to pen his ideas, experiences and heartfelt feelings of life. My word for this book is AMAZING!
This book has brought me from joy and overt laughter to sadness and tears. It is my belief that we as human beings can all relate to the life experiences written in poetry in this book. For the author to be able to open up his deepest feelings, passions, desires, needs, disappointments, and failures to the world is phenomenal in itself. Not many people are able to do that.
I find this collection of poems to be healing to the soul and I thank God for Gerald W. Jones, who shared many of his experiences unafraid of criticism or any other negative thoughts or ideas.
Bravo, Guru. I can’t wait to read your next book!!!
Sincerely,
Beverly Osborne-Haynes
When I read the poems of Gerald Jones, they awaken a part of my consciousness that had been too long dormant. His words made me want to shout to all people—sisters, mothers, lovers, friends and people going about the business of life—raising children, negotiating romances, affirming passion, loving, giving, clinging and letting go.
Gerald’s words are a living testament to a universal wholeness that only real self-respect can know. His words—draw me into harmonies, melodies, vocalizations from the past, realities of the present and hopes for the future. A master of passion whose writing is a time machine bringing the past and present to the foreground—creating a synthesis of spirit, power and soul with a look into a man’s continuing sojourn into the future.
His poems took me back down the road to yesterday… they held me, . . . . they taught me, . . . all the way to tomorrow and beyond. I have been asleep too long—Thank you for the awakening—reminding all of us of trouble spots and danger zones—elements of the human condition.
Contained in these pages are words for all of us who still believe in freedom. Every one of us bears within himself the possibility of all passions, all destinies of life, in all its manifold forms, nothing human is foreign to us. I thank you for sharing the intimacy of your life—I thank you for awakening the poet spirit in all of us.

How does a book of poetry have such a profound impact on a 65 year old man who does not like poetry in the first place???? By that age or at any age, if you dislike poetry you usually have good reasons to do so. Then about two and a half years ago I was introduced to a very different type of poetry by the poet himself whom I have known over 50 years. From the very beginning I became aware of the uniqueness of his poetry. The poems are easy to read, easy to understand AND each poem has a HUGE message that most of us can relate to. Most of the poems that I have read, and many of them I have read several times, not to try to understand the poem but to REALLY feel the message as I can relate to directly from my own experiences or indirectly through other people. Sometimes after reading a poem you feel strongly that the poet purposely wrote that poem about you, but that’s not the case, it was written about many people or issues that hit home
