About this ebook
J.T. MCKENNA
Scottish born James Thomas McKenna has been interested in writing poetry off and on since he was 10 years old. His fi rst experience with verse came from learning about different musical cultures while living with his father and step-mother in London. He realized he not only loved the idea of music, but had an affi nity for lyric poetry. Inspired by the poets Shakespeare, Poe, and Afrika, James writes mainly about human events and the struggles of miscommunications in the daily lives in any community. No stranger to the pain of emotional isolation, James discovered early on that he had a penchant for lyric poetry, and attributes much of his inspiration to R.A.P. music. At age 18, James returned to Scotland, setting off on his own journey. He is currently living in Kinross, Perthshire, and continues to write his gutsy style of lyric poetry.

Dear Phoenix
Dear Phoenix, I Just want you to know.
That when you grow;
from young to Old,
your wings may spread.
Large and wide, strong and bold-
with a colour so vibrantly red.
Dear Phoenix, If you should ever frazzle
you need to know you’re never too young to go.
So when you’re old and weary.
Get yourself together, You’ve a crowd to Dazzle.
With a burst of exuberance and awe a plenty.
You’re never to Old, to Start a fresh.
