About this ebook

Through this book, Men cursed the Lord has blessed", I would like to testify that Jesus Christ is the One and Only Saviour of mankind. In fact, I did not know him too well until this day when I found myself in the bondages and snares of death. I thus called upon him according to Jeremiah 33:3 and he instantly responded and delivered me from these chains that entwined me. Since then, my life has never been the same again. Indeed, Jesus Christ is our final defender. In him, nothing can harm us.

    PREFACE

One day I went to visit one of my fellow church members, who was hospitalized at the Liverpool Royal Hospital. I was accompanied by another brother from my Church. When we reached the man’s hospital bedside, he was lying down with his hands crossed under his pillow. I started to share the word of God with him with the purpose of lifting his faith up before entering a time of prayer with him. As I was speaking, the Spirit of God gave me a word of wisdom. He instructed me to share with him one of my testimonies. I did not know why, but I obeyed. I began to tell him how I too one day was hospitalized. Doctors, like in his case, started to give up on my case as they felt more and more helpless. They ended up abandoning me to my own fate. Beyond all expectation, the Lord gave me grace and miraculously healed me without any intake of medication. I continued my exhortation reassuring him that it could also be the case with him, on the condition that he believed in Jesus’ eternal being and supreme power. I told him that what Jesus had done for me, he could do it for him if only he could believe.

As I carried on with my exhortation, I was unaware that something was happening in the life of this man. Prior to our visit, he had made the decision to end his life. He was holding several capsules and tablets in his hands which he kept under his pillow. Our visit had interrupted his plan. As soon as we entered the room, he could not carry out with his plan and remained in a lying position with his hands under his pillow. As I was sharing my life story with him, he was wondering about the motive of my action. He contemplated the possibility of God revealing to me the fact that he was tired with his life. He also wondered whether God had made me aware of this plan of suicide. After my exhortation, we shared a prayer. The man wept quietly as we ended our prayer. We prayed for the peace of God to accompany him. A few weeks later, he was discharged from the hospital and attended the Sunday service straight after his discharge. The same Sunday, during the service the man shared his testimony with the entire church. He testified what the Lord had done for him.

When he stood up to testify, the congregation only expected him to share a testimony about his healing and recovery. Little did we expect that he had skipped death through suicide. He would have ended his life if God did not mandate two angels (in the person of me and my brother who escorted me to the hospital) to rescue him from the grip of the early death. The whole church was overwhelmed. After sharing his touching testimony, the man gave glory to God.

He recalled how he wanted to commit suicide, how he concealed the drugs under his pillow, how he questioned the purpose of my testimony and how after our departure he went and flashed away all these drugs in the toilet. This was a beautiful story! To Jesus be the Glory!

Since the fall of man (Adam and Eve), man is free to do what he wants with his life. However, each one of us is called to give an account to Him who has given us life. We must realize that every act we do, every word we speak, every mistake we make, has consequences in our own lives and in that of our descendants up to the third and fourth generation, and even more, depending on what was done or said. Some diseases, some problems and some difficult situations we face today are not all caused by what we do today or by our sins only. God through his every word shows us that certain situations and diseases we face today can be the consequences of the curse that was launched upon us either by God himself, or by our parents, or our partners or our leaders or our authorities, briefly by anyone who has acquired a certain authority over us, or any person to whom we have consciously or unconsciously given some power and authority over us. Curse can be seen as a brand that is placed on a person and exposes them to demons and agents of the devil who would oppress the person to fulfil the plan of the devil, that is to steal, to kill and to destroy (John 10:10). A concrete example is God’s curse on Cain who killed his own brother Abel. God said to him:

And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand; when thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. (Gen 4:11-12)

Through these words, God has actually proclaimed a misfortune that came across Cain as a sign or mark of recognition to the visible and invisible world, before the earth and heaven, before the demons and angels. Cain quickly realized the meaning of his fate and, knowing that God’s word is an order to all and must be respected by everyone, he understood that God exposed him to death as he also gave his own brother to death (Gen 9:6). He also understood that death would befall him of anyone, at any time and in any manner as long as God’s spoken words were
