To my lovely wife, to my daughter Heather, to my granddaughter Hadley, to all my family, and to my mom and dad, who have gone to be with the Lord.

May God be with you always.

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

    INTRODUCTION

W HEN GOD GAVE Christians the Bible, he not only provided them with a guide to get through life, but he gave them the power to deal with any event they might encounter. The Bible is God’s Word; his Word, passed through human writers, formed the Bible. The words in the Bible are God’s words addressed to all Christians; these words were essential to activate the miracles, healings, and many other signs and wonders we read about in the Bible.

Hebrews 4:12 says, For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

This verse tells us that God’s Word is all that we need in life. In 2 Timothy 3:16–17 we read, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

This passage also makes it clear that the Bible is all that Christians will ever need to accomplish God’s will and to overcome whatever challenges they encounter. The purpose of this book is to teach the power of God’s Word.

    CHAPTER 1

    The Engrafted Word

J ESUS MADE IT clear in the gospel of John that Christians will be able to do more than he did. I tell you the truth, he said, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father (John 14:1 2–14).
