    Foreword

    By Michael de Pinna

GPS for the Soul in some ways may have been kick-started by me.

As children, Andrea (my sister) and I were brought up like no others: we grew up in five-star hotels, as our father was a hotelier—some referred to him as "the hotelier."

To say that we grew up in a family environment that was different is indeed putting it mildly.

As I grew up without any formal religious instruction I started my search for something that would make sense to me and give me the security that I was clearly lacking. The Universe was beckoning, and as a result I enrolled in a school in London in 1974 called the College of Psychic Studies, which basically taught psychic development. I went from strength to strength, and my spiritual journey began.

That I’d come from a family that was clearly intuitive and psychic was never in question. What was apparent was that I needed to know more about it as intuitively I was led and still am.

Andrea was always fey, which is a lovely, old-fashioned word for clairvoyant; as was our mother and our respective grandmothers. It appears that genetically we inherited their psychic genes? You might say that it was a fait accompli.

After she moved to Brazil with her family, I knew that she was going through a very difficult time. I decided after visiting her that it was now time to introduce her to my spiritual world.

She expressed an interest in numerology and healing, and as a result I started sending books. They eventually sparked her interest to such an extent that she in a short time outclassed me in every way. She immersed herself in this new world that she had always known about but had never explored.

That is where her journey began, and it ultimately led her to the writing of GPS for the Soul.

Five people have been instrumental in motivating me to become the holistic person I am today. With four of them their books and courses provided me with the information I needed to be able to formulate my own version of becoming a holistic healer and numerologist using the science of numbers for healing. The fifth person – my daughter Samantha, was the kick starter to my spiritual awakening. I am forever in their debt.

Helyn Hitchcock, with her book Helping Yourself with Numerology, laid the foundation for my ongoing love affair with numerology. From small beginnings…

Dan Millman, with The Life You Were Born to Live, took me on an extended journey through numerology, and from him I gleaned a deeper insight into the numbers.

Barbara Ann Brennan and her book Hands of Light gave me the background for understanding the mysteries of the energy world we live in.

Katharine Lee, my good friend and mentor, helped me believe in myself and rounded off the sharp edges. Her courses in energy healing and metaphysics gave me the confidence to put my talents to good use and finally start to do the work that I obviously came here to do. Thanks!

Finally I wanted to thank my daughter Samantha, whose deep innate knowledge and wisdom sparked a shift in my awareness and consciousness. Without her gentle cajoling and begging to get me interested in the spiritual aspects of life, this entire lifetime would have been wasted.

    Introduction

Have you ever had the feeling that you have been there, done that and wondered why you are going through the same motions again? I mean… hello! Can I be that stupid to have fallen into the same trap again? The answer is probably yes! It never fails to amaze me that however many times we think we have sorted something out, it inevitably comes back to haunt us because we clearly didn’t sort the problem out properly!

In a way, life is like working with a computer. If you know the right questions to ask, you will get the right answers; if you don’t, then you can go round in circles and end up right back at the beginning. Therefore, it is a great idea to arm yourself with all the knowledge you can get about you: what makes you tick, what are you good at, where your problems in life are, and what you can do about them. With this knowledge, you can embark on a journey of self-discovery that allows you to look at life differently and find yourself along the way.

This is where numero-therapy comes into the picture. It can open up a life map where you can see all of the above and become your best friend in helping you sort yourself out.

In this book, Samantha and I will attempt to show you how to use numero-therapy, my unique brand of basic numerology that I have created over the past twenty-five years.

Numero-therapy is a hybrid of two different systems. You can use the numerology part of the system to make a life map that, by uncovering your strengths, weaknesses, and major lessons, will give you the coordinates you need to set a new direction in your life.

The metaphysics part will help you heal your life and let go of old, negative patterns, allowing you to create the life that you desire, manifest the abundance and beauty in your life, and be the best that you can be. That is where the therapy part of numero-therapy comes in. Once you are aware of the root cause of your problems, you have to face them, release them, and set a new thought pattern in order to heal yourself.

This is exactly what I did, and I want to share the journey with you, to show you that you can take charge of you. You can be the artist, the director, the producer—in fact, anything—in your own life. When you choose these roles, you no longer let other people make your decisions and choices for you, and you can be a happier and more fulfilled person.

This is how it all happened!

    PART I

    CHAPTER 1

    Where It All Began

I was born in London on 28 September 1945, just as the world was celebrating the end of World War II. I must say that my timing was perfect! No bombs to dodge. No panic about making it through the day, but—and there always has to be a but—life was not easy for the so-called victors. Just about everything was rationed, so it wasn’t till I was around three years old that I saw my first egg or banana. Dr. Spock would not have been pleased. For those of you who are not familiar with good old Dr. Spock, he in some ways brought up an entire generation, as many baby boomers, of which I am one, learned how to be parents with the kind guidance of the good doctor. He was a sixties phenomena, and we did nothing before consulting his book on parenting.

My mother had no such paragon to learn from, so it was more a case of hit and miss. Even so, we managed to grow up and thought we were, generally speaking, quite useful members of society. It is only when we come face-to-face with our problems in life that we realize that we still have much to learn. When we don’t know how to cope with our problems very well, we often ignore them. Only then those problems start to accumulate setting the scene for the forthcoming lessons.

However, let’s go back to the beginning. My earliest detailed memories were of the day I turned three years old. I thought I was so big, and I remember sitting at a small, five-sided, Chinese-style telephone table I had decided was mine. I used to sit for hours at that table talking to an imaginary friend. I remember distinctly that on the day of my birthday, I invited some friends over for a party my mother had organized. Later, upstairs, while I sat on the bed in my party dress, putting on my socks, the doorbell rang, announcing the arrival of my first guest. I was so excited that I hopped and skipped with half my sock hanging off my foot. I tried to run down the stairs, but I tripped and came crashing down, catching the corner of my left eye on the metal clip that held the carpet in place. Horror of horrors! There was blood all over the carpeted
