Corrie J. Reed

Corrie J. Reed is an educator, having earned her MEd from Marygrove College and a BA in communications from the University of Detroit–Mercy. When Corrie was in eighth grade, her English teacher, Mrs. McDuffie, admonished her via letter (written in pink ink) to never stop writing. According to McDuffie, Corrie had a gift. She began writing poetry and then song lyrics. Using these genres to express herself, she began to write short essays of inspiration after being baptized. Knowing that she had a personal story to tell, she wrote her first book, Expressions of Life by Daughters of the King, to motivate women in overcoming life’s challenges specific to them. The Truth Box, another compilation of short essays, expresses her thoughts and gives practical spiritual lessons on different happenings in her life and on things that affect all our lives. Corrie resides in Detroit, Michigan, and enjoys singing, bowling, family and friends.

    Foreword

    Bro. Waverly Davis

How refreshing it is to read a book that specifically aims at the Truth of God’s Word! Reading this book will cause the reader to observe and acknowledge that God had it right all along. Corrie Jean Reed takes what should be quite apparent, if not downright obvious in society today, and makes it very clear what the Bible has been saying all these centuries.

Corrie has taken what many see as being difficult, and broken it down to a level that anyone who wants to understand the major ills affecting society and corresponding remedies, can and Lord willing, will act upon in their own lives.

Corrie writes this book with such conviction, and makes its themes so concise and to the point, it becomes clear that she has studied God’s Word for input, and has put the practical application in writing.

Thank you Corrie for this insightful and well written handbook for the soul, and may your efforts be richly blessed by the Lord!

T here are many types of sicknesses and diseases, aches and pains, ailments and hurts human beings suffer from time to time. People may suffer individually as well as collectively. They may suffer for short spurts or for long durations of time. Yet one thing is unmistakably clear: at some point all will suffer. The Bible says that we all have a cross of our own to bare.

Circumstances and situations can negatively define our lives and cause us to suffer. Our snap and impulsive decisions may cause unwanted suffering. Some suffering is beyond our control while some we bring on ourselves. There is physical suffering as well as mental and emotional suffering.

Yet, wherever, or for whatever reason we may find ourselves suffering, ultimately it should be for the cause of Christ. For, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly. Christ suffered a cruel death at the hands of mankind. He submitted to this death. He suffered it to be so. Furthermore, it is because of his
