About this ebook

God has ordained a predetermined destiny in each and every one of our lives. It is our responsibility to learn to let go. We have to learn to trust God and trust that through faith in him, He always keeps his promises. God made a promise to Abraham, and although he died before the promise was fulfilled, God still brought the promise to pass. God never lost a battle from Genesis to Revelation and never will.

Garrtis McLean

Garrtis “Pistol” McLean was born and raised on a farm in Carvers Creek, North Carolina. As a child he earned the nickname Pistol. He graduated from East Bladen High School in 1977. He later went on to coach and play softball for over twenty years, after which time he was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in Peters Creek, North Carolina, just outside of Roseboro, North Carolina. He grew up in the church as a child, and although he strayed from that teaching, he came back with a hunger to get to know God for who He really is. He has been tested and tried but he continues to keep his faith and trust in God. Pistol is a devoted father, church member, Sunday School teacher, and student of God’s holy Word.

T his book is dedicated to Robert Neisler, who friends call Bob. We met over thirty years ago, shortly after I graduated from high school in 1977. I began to work for a turf farm that he was a part owner of. Over the years, we became the best of friends. He taught me about shooting trap, horseback riding, boating, and business. He gave me the furniture that is in my office today. He took his life the second year of my business, and I often think of him. I look at his picture from time to time as my continued inspir ation.

    PREFACE

W hen I was forty-two, a vision from the Lord was spoken over my life. One Friday night as I was attending church, the prophet said, God shall give you a business, and it shall be prosperous, and the name of the business shall be heard around the world, and I will supply the money to start it with. Not knowing any better, I believed just what God said, just like that. I didn’t know how God was going to do it; all I knew was that he was. God will do exactly what he wants to at any time in any place.

So I began to wonder how God was going to do all the things he’d promised. I thought, Man, do you know how much equipment costs? Undoubtedly, it didn’t bother God, because he did just what he said he was going to do. God always keeps his promises. In this book, you will read about how God moved me and used me for his glory. I started to be obedient to his Word and move when God said to move.

God always keep his promises, regardless of our circumstances. As long as we are faithful to his work, God will keep his promises. We sometimes get out of our place with God, which can hinder or keep our promises from being fulfilled. Genesis 17:3–6 says, Then Abraham fell on his face and God talked with him saying As for me behold my covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram but your name shall be Abraham for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and Kings shall come from you. (NKJV)

But in the story of Abraham, we see that he did not live to see the promise of God fulfilled. But God kept his promise to Abraham; after he died, God fulfilled the promise. So if God can keep his promise to a dead man, how much more will God keep his promise to you who are living? Amen.

I would like to emphasize the promises of God and give proof that he is faithful. You will see that I am just a simple, ordinary person. God uses all kinds of people just like you and me to accomplish his purposes. Stay encouraged because there is hope in Christ. No matter the situation, no matter how dark it seems, God has a plan for your life. No matter how insignificant or useless you feel, God loves you and wants to use you in his plan, no matter how sinful and separated you are from God. God’s salvation is available, and there is hope!
