Drawing upon the colorful threads of her Italian and Cherokee ancestry, as well as her childhood memories of West Virginia, the author weaves poems and stories infused with her love of nature, a deep faith in God, and her own special blend of amusing grace. God Danced is her first published book. Joanna Gibbs is a successful graphic artist and web designer for a large satellite communications company. God Danced is her first illustrated book.

      God Danced

      It was a gentler time,

      when ladies wore dresses

      and men tipped their hats -

      when the moon and planets

      seemed far,

      doors and windows were left unlocked,

      and children still wished on a star.

      Do you believe dreams can come true? Lucille asked, pausing in the middle of her near-perfect pirouette.

      Sure, Ann said, bending her knees and trying desperately to sweep up her gangly arms… gracefully. But I don’t think dreams just happen—unless you win the lottery, or something like that.

      I guess, Lucille sighed.

      She studied the position of her feet in the bedroom mirror, held her round arms aloft and tilted her firm chin exactly as she had practiced a hundred times before.
