About this ebook

The Journey of Life is a unique and refreshing account of the most pivotal and miraculous time in Hebrew history. Written from the perspective of a self-told story of a fictional character as he lives as a child through the deliverance of the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt to the Conquest and possession of the land promised by God to the Hebrews, you will think you are walking through these times yourself. As you read his story you will be inspired and challenged to know and trust God on the Journey of your Life, no matter your stage of life. Whether you are 10 or 100 years old, I heartily recommend reading and sharing this book with fellow pilgrims on this exciting journey.Dr. James Plymale, Director of MissionsFranklin Baptist Association
A telling story of the Exodus and the sacrifice of the blood of the lamb provides application to our daily lives as Gods plan unfolds through the trial and tribulations of life. This book is grounded in the truth of the word of God observed from a twelve year old boys point of view.Michael D. Murphy Ed. D

Helps and suggestions for the writing of this book have come from many different sources. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge them.

To my Mother, who talked to me about this story as she would read to me from Gods’ Word. It was only through her efforts and prayers for me, and her devotion to THE BOOK, that brought me to the place where I too began to see the importance that it played in my everyday life.

To my wife Mary, who also values reading what God has to say to His people. I want to thank for her patience, and understanding of the time used in this study and writing. Also, for the suggestions she offered along the way.

Much of the ceremonial detail of customs will not be found in this writing. To a twelve year old boy, they are not important. At the time I started this book, my son Paul was just twelve. As I listened to his questions , I was led to try to think as he thought as he was being taught about Gods word.

I am thankful for the discussions with friends about the Exodus Story from the Bible as we spent time together either in Sunday School Class, or over a cup of coffee as we visited. Their ideas helped greatly as I gathered material.

Working diligently at the task of becoming a ‘Good Listener’ has been very helpful also. It is amazing what you may learn by just listening to others as they speak.

Great has been the blessing, and enjoyment received from reading the story of the Exodus from the Bible, over and over. Each time, I have received new inspiration, and ideas that have been used in this writing .

From receiving the ability from Gods’ Holy Spirit to remember how a young boy thinks, and responds as these many, sometimes dreadful, and sometimes marvelous happenings took place around him. And how simple it is for a child to trust. Just to take God at His word, and trust in Him to do what He says He will do.

Experiences on my Journey has furnished much of the material used in this book. Experiences that teaches the goodness, and the Love of God displayed each and every day; all one must do is to open their eyes and heart .

Looking and watching has brought about these ‘Add- Lib terms and sayings of the scriptures. They are not meant to, ‘Take Away’, nor to, Add-To" anything written in Gods’ Word, only to put them into our modern day thinking and speaking.

Try as you read, to think as a twelve year old might think. Forget the big words used today, and think in simple terms. After-all, Gods word tells us, That a little child shall lead.

    By Jack E. Henderson

Loneliness is a terrible thing, especially if you try to make your journey through life being lonely. To be Forgotten also is a terrible thing. The Children of Israel felt they had been forgotten by God, and they were a lonely people. Their Fore-Fathers told the story of God making a promise to men of old that He would take them to a land of their own. Four hundred years went by. They were lonely and living under dictator-ship in a foreign land. They were slaves of the Pharaoh of Egypt. They spent their days in the Brick Pits, making bricks. They felt completely forgotten, and alone. God hadn’t forgotten, His plan had been long in the making.

Through His divine direction, a baby boy was born, and kept safely until he was grown. The babies name was Moses.

Out on the back hills of Midian, Moses was watching sheep when God spoke to Him and gave him the charge of Leading those lonely people to that Land He had promised them long ago. He was eighty years old when he started his task.

This story is told from a twelve year old boys’ point of view. His thoughts changed as he grew older. Through-out his journey he became wiser, and more attentive to God. He watched as God preformed Miracle after miracle, as He led His Chosen People out of bondage, toward the Land He had promised . As He led them, He molded them into a People He would use all through history.

The journey the Israelites took, is like the journey you and I take. The time and place may be different, but the journey is the same. Through hard times, and good times, like them, we make our journey through life, on our way to the Promised Land. Like the Israelites, there are many
