About this ebook

This is a husband
and wife team who
both enjoy writing
in rhyme. A retired couple
who moved to Cornwall
fifteen years ago, they met
many new friends on their
karaoke weekends. Over the
years Norman has merged
from a musical background to writing childrens rhyming stories. His
in-between years were centred on becoming a successful song writer. He
has always enjoyed writing from the early age of eleven, where his rhyming
storys were rewarded and displayed on the classroom wall. But in the
1960s after an unsuccessful period with several bands he met his wife to
be Julie in London; then he wished only to develop their relationship and
settle down. They moved to Manchester/Salford where he was originally
from. Both shared interests in singing and writing in rhyme, but it wasnt
until they moved to Cornwall that they both joined a poetry group
from where they decided to start their joint venture and get a book
published. Julie came from Vauxhall in London and used to bunk
off school at every opportunity, she rues her missed days at school
leaving without the know how to create a comprehensive composition.
That all changed when she met Norman. Together he would explain
the art of spelling and composition and as her confidence grew she
blossomed. She tells about her life with friends and family, her pets;
and her religious beliefs. These are the building blocks on which she
has found her joy for creative writing.

Joint Poetry Book - Julie Flint

    A Lad Called Johnnie

Johnnie was a lad he knew how to sing,

He left his mum to visit London town to sing before the Queen.

His mum was so happy as happy as could be,

If they found him good she thought money will come rolling home to me.

Johnnie was gone for a year or two then he made

A record and his dream came true.

Now I can make millions and buy mum a great big house.

Have lots of parties no more being quiet as a mouse

We have mates ’round for a laugh or two.

And family that forgot you are there would turn up too.

    3 January 2010

    A Little Mate Called Poppy

I have a little mate called Poppy,

And he comes from next door.

Now they bought a puppy dog

    And don’t want Poppy anymore,

He’s always out in the wind

    And pouring rain,

    Laying under a car.

I try to tell the owners

All they say is, "What can we do.

Cats love staying out at night . . ."

But that is just not true.

Poppy lays in my front garden

    Every day of the week,

    Because I now feed him,

    He looks for his meat.

If his owners were homeless for a week or two,

    Then they would know

What they are putting Poppy through.

Poppy cries to come through our front door

    But that can never be

We have a dog and it

Would not be best for he.

All I can do is feed him everyday

    But with winter coming,

    The weather is turning cold

My heart goes out to Poppy

    His owners have been told.

    When you buy a pet

    You never let it down

    Never turn your pet away

He one day won’t be found.

    29 September 2009

    A Pet is for Life

We feed a homeless cat each and every day,

After her meat, she likes to play up and down our palm trees
