    INTRODUCTION TO THE MYSTERY

How far are you willing to go to investigate a mystery? The Great Jewish Mystery is an astonishing secret from the Middle East. The United States has fought wars in the region, yet the majority of its military have no clue about this mystery. To go a step further, many soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives on Middle Eastern soil unaware of the secret. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel is not mindful of this mystery, and President Obama will never discuss it. Americans are naïve regarding this topic and show no urgency for exploring it.

Regardless of one’s continental affiliation or citizenship, ignorance of this mystery is inexcusable. This phenomenon should be known and discussed all over the globe, especially within families’ homes. Children must be informed, since generations will be affected. The Earth-shattering data is accessible to everyone, but low interest keeps the mystery far off. The masses must conduct an investigation, because the mysterious records sadly remain overlooked.

We all know what a mystery is. It is a hidden and concealed truth often tough to understand. This Jewish mystery appears to be trivial, though it is quite intriguing. The clues surrounding this subject are not easy to swallow like milk; rather, they are tough like meat. Despite overwhelming evidence, people bypass many clues daily. The biggest clue hides in the name, yet multitudes would struggle to utter or spell it.

What is in a name? We frequently select names for descriptive reasons. For example, we usually call a redhead Red, a thin person Slim, Chief when a person is in charge, or Junior when named after his father. These nicknames describe distinct characteristics that help understand their subjects. Names are indicators to help with the who, what, when, where, and why of our questions.

We therefore more clearly understand this Jewish mystery after discovering its name. The name behind the Great Jewish Mystery is gaining familiarity in the Middle East, becoming as well known as icons Abraham and Moses. Abraham and Moses are well-known biblical patriarchs with historic and spiritual importance around the world. So how can this mystery truly develop the attractiveness of Abraham and Moses? Take a moment to ponder this question!

One time at the airport, I spoke with a Jewish man who was headed to Israel. I explained to him how the Great Jewish Mystery would explode with profound interest in the Middle East. I told him this subject would become as familiar as Abraham and Moses. His curiosity immediately prompted him to call his brother for insight. Their willingness to engage over the cell phone created greater thirst for this mystery. After their conversation, they both realized the inevitable escalation of this mystery is tough to dispute or suppress. Initially, these Jewish men were not familiar with this mystery. Their ignorance seemed to be connected with a conspiracy to keep this topic undisclosed, as it forces cultures to challenge their social and spiritual fears.

This secret is a whisper that will become a shout in the Middle East. It is the centerpiece that families, religions, and worldwide leaders have significantly overlooked. Nations and people groups that misrepresent, misunderstand, or willfully ignore this mystery have little concern for the aftermath of their actions. Social and spiritual instabilities are communal consequences when neglecting this subject. These consequences negatively impact nations. Once this Jewish mystery is embraced, however, social and spiritual instabilities will decline, particularly in the Middle East.

    CONTENTION BETWEEN JEWS AND ARABS

Why is the Middle East a prime example of social and spiritual instability? Pause here briefly to consider some of the hopeless instabilities that come to mind when considering the history of this region. The unstable Middle East is rooted in a shortsighted decision, made centuries ago, that has led to estranged relationships between Jews and Arabs. The Jews are descendants of Isaac, and the Arabs are in Ishmael’s lineage. Today, Ishmael’s Arab descendants covet God’s promises given specifically to Isaac’s descendants, the Jews. This phenomenon has certainly been damaging to Israel’s existence and has contributed to Middle Eastern instability.

The turmoil between Jews and Arabs today is fueled by the Arabs’ refusal to accept the Jews as the children of promise from the lineage of Abraham and Sarah. While it is true the Arabs also fall in the lineage of Abraham, they mistakenly desire promises given specifically to the Jews, Isaac’s descendants. The promises include the incredible wealth from the following:

    •   the coastal treasures of the Sharon Valley in Israel

    •   the fruitful land in Israel

    •   the mineral wealth of the Dead Sea

    •   the enormous oil treasures of the Arabian Peninsula

    •   the precious timber that once covered Lebanon¹

The greatest conflict between Jews and Arabs arises over the land of promise that belongs to the Jews. Questions of the legitimate ownership over this land increase the region’s turmoil. Hatred for Israel continues to evolve in the Middle East; now it is scattered around the globe.

The divine will and plan of God clearly make the land of promise Jewish territory for Isaac’s descendants, the Jews. This is the most important piece of real estate on Earth, yet many Jews today are scattered throughout the world and live outside the Promised Land. This dispersion is called the Diaspora. In God’s timing, Jewish people will permanently regather in all their land, as foretold in the Jewish Bible, what Christians call the Old Testament (Isaiah 11:11).

When Israel became a nation in May 1948, this event was not a coincidence, but a glimpse of prophecy fulfilled. The actual land God promised to the Jews is even larger than what Jews currently occupy. According to Genesis 15:18-21 and Exodus 23:31, the Promised Land covers roughly three hundred thousand square miles. The Jewish occupation in Israel is truly God’s prophecy in the Middle East, regardless of Arab groups that covet that land.

THE SEXUAL DECISION LINKED TO TENSION

Have you ever had sex with someone without considering possible heartbreaking results? If the answer is yes, you find yourself in good company with prominent biblical figures. For example, present tension between Jews and Arabs is rooted in the sexual decision by Abraham and Sarah millennia ago. Sarah encouraged her husband to have sex with Hagar, her Egyptian maid, to produce a son (their plan B, not God’s plan A). Many people wonder why Sarah influenced Abraham to do so.

Abraham and Sarah both refused to believe God’s promise to give them Isaac, the promised son. Sarah then persuaded Abraham to impregnate her maid in order to deliver a son, even though God clearly instructed Abraham and Sarah to produce Isaac (the promised son) together. They eventually produced Isaac (God’s plan A), but not until after Abraham slept with the Egyptian maid who gave birth to Ishmael and, through his descendants, the Arab world.

God purposely made provision for Abraham and Sarah to produce Isaac, the son of promise. Nevertheless, they viewed God’s promise as farfetched and first used the maid to bear Ishmael. Abraham and Sarah collectively doubted God’s promise to produce Isaac, as they were older and beyond normal childbearing age. Also, their fruitless attempts over a decade had brought despair as they lost hope in producing Isaac. Therefore, they selfishly agreed to involve the maid to birth Ishmael, as heir. Today, many Arab descendants from Ishmael’s lineage hold hatred for Jewish descendants from Isaac. Yes, Isaac and Ishmael were brothers from different mothers (Sarah and the maid), but they both shared the same father—Abraham. Generations later, the descendants of these brothers continue to fight over the promises in the Middle East.

Abraham and Sarah drastically altered history with their sexual decision to involve the maid. This historic decision is a link to the social and spiritual instabilities in the Middle East. The drama in that region is intense and never calms. News networks and social media keep us informed. I never truly understood the origin of these instabilities until analyzing the Great Jewish Mystery. The Middle East turmoil is a wrecking ball in the structure of social and spiritual stability in that region and in other parts of the world.

When Sarah and Abraham decided to involve the maid after failed attempts to conceive Isaac, they followed the custom of that day. Wives who struggled to get pregnant often used their maids as surrogates to birth their children. Therefore, from a human viewpoint, their decision seemed normal. The problem was they both doubted God’s specific promise to them. Despite their doubt, God later blessed Abraham and Sarah with Isaac’s birth, as promised.

How damaging was Abraham and Sarah’s plan to use the maid who gave birth to Ishmael and the Arab world? Look at the wars between the Arabs and Jews in the Middle East and in other parts of the world! The sexual relationship between Abraham and the maid Hagar has greatly impacted history. The most notable impact is Arab contention toward Israel, highlighted by Islamic terror. Millions of Ishmael’s descendants in Arab cultures despise the Jews’ confidence as the children of promise. Militant bitterness from certain Arabs fuels instabilities in the Middle East and around the world.

Examine the biblical evidence and challenge those who doubt Isaac, instead of Ishmael, as the promised son! Three verses (Genesis 22:2, 12, and 16) recognize Isaac as the only son of promise, undoubtedly confirming God chose Isaac over Ishmael for the promise. These verses validate Isaac as the highest in rank, even though he was not the first son physiologically born to Abraham. Isaac and the Jews are undoubtedly covenant descendants from the lineage of Abraham and Sarah, his wife. Genesis 17:17-22 further confirms this truth.

Remember, Ishmael was conceived when Abraham and Sarah involved her maid, who gave birth to the son of their unbelief (Genesis 25:12-18). Ishmael is not the son God chose for the promises, and at one point, Abraham actually pleaded with God for his son Ishmael to be recognized as the promised son.² Abraham’s cry, however, did not change God’s mind. Within these verses, God makes it very clear that Isaac and the Jews are covenant children who are to receive the promises.

Nevertheless, God graciously told Abraham his plea for Ishmael was heard. God said to Abraham: He will bless Ishmael, make him fruitful, multiply him exceedingly; he will produce twelve princes and become a great nation. Today, there are approximately 250 million Arabs surrounding over five million Jews in the Middle East.³

The descendants of Isaac and Ishmael still have deep-rooted ongoing conflicts. These descendants are genealogically distant cousins and can be traced to their ancient grandfather Abraham, which makes this situation so disheartening. The conflicts and wars between distant cousins are most evident in the Middle East but have become a bloody mess even in other parts of the world. The battles between Jews and Arabs are closely linked to God’s promises to the Jews.

As Isaac’s descendants, the Jews lawfully accept the promises from God outlined in the Old Testament. However, they have neglected to nurture their connection to the Great Jewish Mystery. They must prioritize their connection to this mystery because it will ultimately strengthen social and spiritual instabilities in the Middle East in years to come. Since all people groups have not prioritized this mystery, similar instabilities are fearfully inevitable around the world. While the mystery continues to be ignored, social and spiritual stability continue to deteriorate in every nation.

Hopefully, Israel begins to inspire other nations to thoroughly investigate the Great Jewish Mystery, which can positively influence the course of history. Embracing this secret should bring a new beginning to social and spiritual stabilities, both individually and globally. Even though the relationship between Jews and Arabs is fractured to say the least, this mystery can touch the hearts of millions and finally bring some stability to the rapport of Isaac and Ishmael’s descendants.

    THE ISLAMIC RELIGION

Have you taken the time to investigate why you subscribe to your spiritual beliefs? Before unveiling this Jewish mystery, briefly examine the religious practice of Ishmael’s descendants in Arab cultures. Arabs predominantly practice the religion of Islam, and they are called Muslims. Islam’s greatest prophet is Muhammad, which means highly praised. Muhammad is the source of their religious book, the Quran. Without question, Islam is a sword and nation-building religion—even Muhammad persuaded such. The word Islam means to submit. The era of Islam began around 622 A.D. near Medina.

Muhammad, a descendant of Ishmael who was the son of Hagar the maid and Abraham, was born to a tribe called Quarish in 570 A.D.⁴ Even though Muhammad is considered the founder and leader of Islam, his lifestyle was certainly self-indulgent to say the least. His secular way of life is clearly acknowledged by his followers and Islamic scholars. The following facts about Muhammad are documented in the course of history.

    •   Muhammad violated his own laws as well as the laws he enacted for pagan Arabs.

    •   He also violated the laws of the Old and New Testaments.

    •   He was a polygamist who had around sixteen wives, even though the Islamic Bible ironically allows only four.

    •   He was even engaged to a young girl, around six years old, who he later married around nine years old.

    •   He was over fifty years old at the time.⁵,⁶

No wonder the treatment of women in Islamic countries is so insensitive! History says their founder and prophet was a polygamist and pedophile.

Furthermore, Islam, like other man-made religions, has its origin in man and through religious duties attempts to satisfy and please God by
