About this ebook
Inspired by God, Jesus Inside was written to provide a clearer view of the Bible. I cant count the number of times I've heard individualsyoung and old, educated and uneducatedsaying that they dont understand the Bible. They believe in Jesus Christ and know He is the begotten Son of God who died on the cross for our sins, but they dont know what that truly means.
I pray that after reading Jesus Inside, all, including myself, will have a clearer understanding of the Bible so that our lights will shine so brightly we will have to go and share the Jesus inside of us to people all over the world.
Receiving her doctoral degree in Theology in May of 2011 and traveling to various countries throughout the world, Dr. Brenda Stevenson felt compelled to write about the Jesus inside. Time and time again, she would hear people say, I dont understand the Bible. The desire of Dr. Stevensons heart is to give a miniature storytelling walk through of the Bible, in hopes that people will gain a better understanding and appreciation for the living Word, Jesus.
Dr. Brenda Stevenson
Brenda was born in 1961 in Harlem, New York; her parents relocated to California while she was still an infant. Dr. Stevenson currently resides in Antioch, California, with her daughter, son-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters living nearby.

GREETINGS READER
Before I get started with this book, I’m writing you this letter from the bottom of my heart and with my deepest sincerity. When I worked at San Quentin State Prison, I did not realize that I became a prisoner in my own mind until I had left the prison back in June 2001. Being in a negative environment for seven years made my heart cold and my views of the world pessimistic. My self-esteem was low and I found myself, unaware, to be under arrested development. Living in a box, going nowhere fast, I needed help… I needed God!
It wasn’t to long after leaving the prison industry that I truly got into church and this is when the healing process began. However, after about three years of committing myself to church faithfully, church began to seem kind of redundant. Church became an environment that felt like a social club. I would come and praise a God that I truly believed in but didn’t really know. Although I was now free from being a prisoner in my own mind, I now recognized that my mind was a prisoner to this world. Church had become just a formality and I felt in my heart that something was missing. Although I became optimistic on my views about life and was now living in a different set of circumstances, I still found myself, unaware, to be under arrested development.
Then it happened. I got into a Christian college where I began to read the Bible through and through for the very first time. God started blessing me beyond what I’ve ever imagined and I started traveling to various parts of the world. My very first sermon that I did was in Kenya, Africa. And in Haiti! Well, you had to be there. All I can say is that I never felt the protection and the presence of God like I felt it in Haiti. My personal relationship and love for Jesus was getting stronger and stronger. My understanding of Him dying on the cross for my sins became clearer and clearer. God started talking to me through the Bible and started showing me things that I hadn’t seen before. The shackles had fallen off.
Please hear me Reader, the reason that I’m writing this book to you is so that you may have a stronger appreciation for the Bible. So many times I have heard people of all ages and all walks of life say that they don’t understand the Bible. I know how you feel because I felt the same way at one time. This book is designed to give you a pathway through the Bible so that you may understand the story that God is revealing to you. After reading this book, you should walk away with a clearer understanding of the Bible. However, you may be a person that knows the Bible very well and has tapped into its mysteries. If you are one of those people then you also know that you can live three full lifetimes and still not know the mysteries of the Bible in its entirety. That’s the beauty of the Bible, it can make and keep you humble. You recognize that you can learn something new in the Bible from a child or from somebody who has only been saved for three months. Arrogance and pride diminishes considerably when you truly develop a personal relationship with God.
I pray that you listen because listening is the key to everything! Listening will allow the Jesus inside of you to flourish. Trust in God and I guarantee you that your mind and soul will change from arrested development to being completely at rest in our Lord and Savior, Jesus
!
Take my yoke upon you,
And learn of me; for I am meek
And lowly in heart: and ye shall
find rest unto your souls
(Matthew 11:29)
With all my Love,
Brenda
From Arrested Development to Jesus Inside
FOREWORD BY Nataushia Miller
Greetings readers! We invite you to take a journey to unarresting the development of our mind by allowing Jesus INSIDE! Jesus says, Behold I stand at the door and knock…
Revelation 3:20. Can you hear his voice? Will you listen? Will you answer? Will you open the door and invite Jesus into the residence of your heart? Will you allow him to come in, into your heart and break bread with you and you with him? Will you take Jesus on a tour of the residency of your heart, allowing him to enter into every dark room, attic, corner or basement? Oh, yes! Jesus desires ALL of you: the good, the bad, the ugly and the dare not tell anyone part of you! He desires to have an intimate relationship with you, but before we get into the process of developing a relationship with Jesus, let us examine the NEED for Jesus INSIDE by diagnosing the symptoms of an arrested development state of mind…
REMEMBER: the mind is the part of a human being that thinks feels and wills—reason, sanity or sound mental condition. It is the philosophical and general term for the center of mental activity and is therefore used of intellectual powers or abilities. Intelligence is ability to learn and understand; it is also mental alertness or quickness of understanding. Seeing that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God and the Word became flesh and lived among us and all scripture is inspired by God, ultimately it is Jesus who speaks in II Timothy 1:7 saying, God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Above all, the intellectual powers and abilities that the Dictionary describes the human mind to possess come from the Almighty God Creator of all things and not we our selves—allow Jesus Inside.
Before we get into the process, that is the journey in unarresting the development of our mind, let us look to the diagnosis of Arrested Development.
Arrested Development (AD) SYMPTOMS:
1. ARREST—to seize by legal authority or warrant; to check the course of, stop slow down
2. STUCK—a stoppage or standstill
3. PARALYZE—to bring to a condition of helpless stoppage inactivity or ability to act
4. COMPLACENT [DANGER ZONE]—pleased with oneself merits situation often without awareness of some potential danger or defect; self-satisfied
Thus far in your life, have you ever felt STUCK—to the point in which you could not envision a path to navigate your way OUT? Have you ever felt INSANE—to the point in which frustration abounded because desired results would not manifest yet you still refused or was unable to do something DIFFERENT? Typically, when answering these questions and when reading the definitions above of AD Symptoms, one may automatically interpret them in describing one’s physical state of living rather than the mental capacity of the mind. Nevertheless, the Word of God says, for as a man thinks, so is he…
In other words, our physical state of living whether we are broke, busted and disgusted or content, wealthy and complete begins with the thoughts of our mind. Why?
