Would like to thank everyone who made my trip to Malaysia and Philippines possible. It is not easy to make a mission of thought become a reality, but with prayer, fasting, encouragement, and financial support, my thoughts became a reality. I pray that your time, effort, and support given will not be in vain, and the blessing of God will be showered on you. As the writer of this book, it has been my privilege to meet wonderful people.

I would like to say a big thank you to my family. Daddy, for the financial support provided for the mission. Mummy, thanks for the spiritual teaching and encouragement. To my dearest brothers, sisters and friends, thanks for the precious words, financial and empowering support you provided for me towards the mission.

I would like to say a big thank you to my fellow brothers and sisters at Kings Church Cambridge. It is not easy to discipline and train a missionary, especially an imperfect one like me. The effort put into teaching the Word of God, making it practical, and ensuring that it is a major focus on the sharing of the Gospel. The prayer and prophecy given to me by the church was a great blessing. Thanks for always being there.

I would like to say a big thank you to the team from Xlibris. They made a big supportive and administrative impact in achieving the publication of ‘I WILL GO’.

I would like to show my sincere appreciation to my dear friends Tomiwa Adewunmi, Chigozie Nwobu, Danielle Roberts, Neciah Dorh, Cherry Nzweku and Nishil Raichura for always being a great support in times of need.

Finally, I would like to say my biggest thank you, deepest appreciation to the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the author and finisher of my mission. God, thank you—my mission would not have being possible without you. Thanks for everything.

    Dedication

I will like to dedicate this book to the thousands and thousands of our amazing missionaries who have devoted their life to mission work and the advancement of the message of Christianity.

My father, Ogbawefi Steve, who has devoted his life to his childrens’ dreams; an incredible mother, Adaeze; my dearest, beloved sisters Ebele and Ndudi; my ever-strong brothers Dike and Uba; and my late step-mother Regina: her legacy of love will always remain in our hearts and souls.

    Introduction

‘J ospeh, I went for a mission conference, and I got a lot of magazines. Do you want them? They are in my car,’ Jana asked. I didn’t know what to do. I grabbed the pack of mission magazines from Jana. The Sunday evening continued with prayer and still wondering why Jana gave me all the magazines.

Weeks later, after a stressful day, I just wanted to relax on my bed when my eyes were drawn by the mission magazine bag. One by one I started looking at the different organisations involved in the mission, from children to adult-based missions. The missions involved different places in the world, which was interesting. As I read through the magazine, I was getting engrossed and fascinated; I didn’t know where to go or which to choose.

As I picked the Go4It magazine, I felt God say, ‘That is where I am sending you to.’ I was not bothered, I just looked at the magazine, and my mood suddenly changed into a love for Go4It. The magazine had various options all around the globe, plus a ship ministry. ‘Lord, do you want to send me to America, Canada, Africa, or South America?’ I asked.

I have always had a heart to go to Africa, so I simply chose the Algeria mission opportunity. I was filled with joy and excitement.

The following Sunday, I went enthusiastically to Pastor Pete, ‘I am going on a mission in Algeria, Africa.’ I saw that big daddy joy in him. We arranged meetings to talk about it; the different aspects—what I will be doing, where exactly, the spirituality, and the finance. After critical assessment, he said, ‘You can go for it.’

Days passed by, I was falling more in love with the idea of the Algerian mission. I was worshipping in the room, and God said, ‘Did you ask me first, before choosing Algeria? That’s not where I am sending you.’ This was a blow. I thought of how I would tell everybody that I was not going to Algeria and started refilling my forms. But the Lord said, ‘I will be with you.’

I looked for the magazine in my room and asked God to show me where he wanted me to go. I was flicking through the magazine and asking God: Canada? No. America? No. Brazil? No. As I continued opening the pages I looked at ‘Out of the Comfort Zone—Asia’, God said, ‘That is where you are.’ ‘Asia, Lord?’ I asked. ‘Yes,’ he told me straight away with the three-week Philippines option.

The preparation for the mission took me about five months: filling forms, asking Pastor Pete to give me a reference, applying for my visa, sending mails, and telling people about what God was about to do. This meant I had to do a little shopping: getting a backpack, boot, and other necessary items.

Ready to go! The week of my departure to OCZ Malaysia was a praying and fasting week in the church. This was a good dose for me to spiritually prepare for what God was about to do through me. It was a time to fully submit to the reality and physical world of my life for the unforeseen future ahead of me. The night of departure was filled with many hugs, prayers and prophecies. It was time to ‘go 4 It’.

    Day 1

Departure from UK and Arrival at Malaysia

The room was filled with the presence of God as we were worshipping and seeking the face of God. It was the last day of the fast. Pastor Pete decided that we would pray for our personal needs and for one another. As I was worshipping, I felt more fire and God’s presence building up in me. I felt God prompting me to start praying and prophesying over people. I prayed for Phillip, Tim, ‘tall bro’, and a couple of others. God gave me a word for Andrew, and I prayed for more time over Maley when she suddenly fell. The meeting drew to an end, involving a prayer and prophecy session over me. Lahn prophesied saying that I should not be afraid, God was with me. Paul prophesied, ‘You will not have the complete words and you will feel like you don’t know enough, but God will fill in the gap.’ Pete prophesied, ‘If someone falls ill in your team, you have to pray for that person.’ The meeting ended with worship, hugs, and kisses, and then I put my things in Pete’s car and drove off.

The drive to the airport was when the reality of the unexpected began to materialise. Jana started to speak in the tongues of the unknown, then Pete joined, and then I joined in. Pete and Jana used these last minutes to encourage me, inspire me, and motivate me. We prayed, spoke in tongues, and had a nice fellowship together. By the end of the drive, I started feeling a bit sad that Pete and Jana were going to leave, and I was really going to be on my own. The last few days were really dear, but they prayed for me again and said, ‘You go forth into the world, preach the Gospel, make disciples, and heal the sick.’

The fear factor gradually mounted as I walked into the airport: the people, the place, the culture and many more factors. The diverse thoughts and many more worries just seemed never ending; I had to travel to Malaysia with only one person with me. The check in at the airport was unusual with the staff starting late, and I was not really impressed by the attitude and service. The flight took off, and I also took off to the dream place. All the sleep reserved was fully used; I slept for about seven hours, having to wake up a couple of times to eat and reposition myself.

The first miracle to happen was that my height phobia was no longer a problem. When I looked down during the flight, I was not scared of the height; on the contrary, I was able to absolutely love every single minute of the journey. We arrived in Malaysia, passing the health form and checks. Heading straight to the immigration check was when things started to change and get funny. The woman asked me for my flight ticket, and I told her it was an e-ticket. I forgot to print it, and it was online. She looked at me strangely and said, ‘Sir, can you take this note to the immigration officer?’ I didn’t question her, I just went. The officer at the other end didn’t even understand the note, so I had to go back and come back again. At this point, she explained, ‘The problem is that he does not have his ticket printed, and we don’t have internet at the airport in the immigration office.’ At this, I got mad with myself. The man at the main immigration desk said there was nothing he could do for me but to call the airport manager. ‘Will they deport me because I didn’t print my ticket?’ my heart asked.

The airport manager came, and he was informed about everything that happened by the immigration staff. Afterwards, the officer on duty came and told me to sit down and that they would call the airline. A big blow! Not on my first day! He went to continue with my case, and I sat down. I started reading Journey of Hope. This lifted some of the burden off my heart, making me feel lighter. I started praying about what was happening. ‘God, please intercede!’ I said. I was reminded of the prophecy of fear. This cooled me down, and I started thinking straight again. I continued speaking with God and reading the book. The manager was just walking in and out, not really busy any more. After waiting for a long period, the staff shift ended. The group was gone, and my case was not sorted! Lord, help me!

The new group consisted of new smiling faces, about three lovely women and two men. That ‘special lady’ approached me and asked, ‘Sir, how can I help you?’ At this, my heart rejoiced. I explained everything to her. She said if I had a friend that could print my ticket; she would go and collect it for me. And
