About this ebook

You give your heart to Jesus when you become a Christian. The ways of the Lord dont change. If you are not well cleansed by God, You keep on encircling back to sin. Heb 6:4
For it is impossible to restore again to repentance those who have once been enlightened. Who have tasted the heavenly gift and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit.
2nd Peter Ch. 2:19. Your condition is worse when you go back to sin.
Heb. Ch. 10:26. For if we sin deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth. There no longer remains a sacrifice for sin.
It is not Gods plan that we go back to sin.
When you are going through Christian growth, your flesh is carrying your cross as you follow Jesus Christ.

    Summary

    Chapter 1

    DAVID: ANOINTED BY SAMUEL:

    1ST SAM 16-1-3

The Lord said to Samuel, Fill your horn with oil and go, I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provide for myself a king among his sons. And Samuel said, how can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me. Take a heifer with you and say, I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. And you shall anoint for me him whom I name to you. Samuel did what the Lord commanded and came to Bethlehem. From the beginning of times those people who obeyed the command of God, even when from their view point as humans, the going seemed difficult, always, Lord paved way for them and the going became easier later. Then elders of the city came to meet him trembling and said "Do you come peacefully and he said, Peacefully I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.

Consecrate yourself and come with me to the sacrifice. And he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

When they came he looked at Liahb and said, surely the Lords anointed is before him. But the Lord said to Samuel don’t look at his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord does not see as man sees. Man looks on the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart. Then Jesse called Abina clak and made him pass before Samuel and he said neither has the Lord chosen this one. Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel and Samuel said to Jesse the Lord has not chosen these. And Samuel said to Jesse, are all your sons here? Jesse said there remains yet the youngest but behold he is keeping the sheep. Samuel said to Jesse fetch him, we will not sit down till he comes. Jesse sent for him and he came.he was ruddy, had beautiful eyes and was handsome. The Lord said, Arise, anoint him for this is he. Most of the times Man’s thoughts and plans are almost opposite to those of the Lord. Jesse brought his choice first and Lord’s choice last.

Jesse had already made a choice for the Lord. Almost sure that David was far from being chosen, therefore he was not even among the seven sons, he was looking after the sheep.

Many a time using our human judgment we have made mistakes in life. And when God does something almost opposite of what we thought was right, we keep on asking why should it be this way Lord. Why should you not anoint one of these seven sons whom I thought were most presentable to you? Why choose David whom I thought was least presentable.

Lord’s choices are always right. Lord always looks at the heart, not physical appearance, let us always accept his choices for the Lord sees not as man sees. Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers and the spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward.

    1ST SAM:16:14

Now the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him. Sauls servants said to him an evil spirit from the lord is tormenting you; His servants remarked that there was a man skillful in playing lyre, His name is David son of Jesse, David is a man of favors, prudent in speech and a man of good presence and the Lord is with him. Saul sent for David, and when he came to his service Saul loved him greatly and he became saul’s armour-bearer and whenever the evil spirit came upon Saul, (Verse-23) David played the lyre with his hands Saul was refreshed and was well and the evil spirit departed from him.

    Chapter 17

Philistines gathered their armies for battle against the people of Israel. Saul and the men of Israel were gathered for the battle too. There was a valley between the two enemy groups. The philistines stood on the mountain on one side and Israel on the other side of the mountain facing each other with a valley between them. There came out from the camp of the philistines a champion called Goliath of Gath.

Whose height was six cubits and a span, Had a helmet of bronze on his head, Armed with a coat of mail and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze.

He had greaves of bronze upon his legs.

Goliath of Gath came forth from the camp of Philistines and told Saul to produce his people to fight with him

    THE BATTLE BETWEEN

    PHILISTINES AND ISRAELITES

    1st Samuel Chapter17 and 18

Goliath of Gath came forth from the camp of philistines and told Saul to produce his people to fight with him.

Saul and his army were afraid when they saw how strongly armed Goliath was. His height, weight and courage.

His scorning language and belittling language. They were afraid and they retreated.

Three sons of Jesse were in the army of Saul against philistines.

David at the time was looking
