About this ebook

Beyond the Obscure is a novella about the Foresters, a broken family in a fictional setting that is loosely inspired by the 1940’s-1950s’. In those tough times, almost everyone is reeling from a collapsed economy and the ensuing recession. After being abandoned and partially robbed by his wife Sarah, Alex becomes a single parent of his daughter Amy. He is joined by his lover and celebrity Karen Hirst and the detective Rick Savaglio on his quest to recover a stolen heirloom. Together, they pursue Sarah to Wither Falls, a supposedly abandoned, shady and mysterious city that holds the answers to their questions. However, they soon encounter multiple obstacles far greater and more complex than they bargained for.

JC Goloubev

Evgueni “JC” Goloubev is an award-winning American filmmaker. Beyond the Obscure represents the first (and hopefully not last!) foray into the realm of book writing. He is the co-founder and current CEO of Frozen Frame Productions, an independent video production company founded in early 2006 in Toronto, Canada as well as the CEO of Icarus, a subsidiary company responsible solely for video editing and color grading work. He has a substantial amount of international culture experience, moving often from country to country to either study there and/or work. Knowledge gained on those travels has allowed him to analyze and study people in great detail and construct psychological profiles. These details, in addition to real-life experiences, add new nuances to the works. Music and gaming have always played a huge role in his creative work and influences include Depeche Mode, Before the Dawn, Kino, Smisloviye Galusinatsii, Rammstein, Kamelot etc... Video games with a strong emphasis on storytelling such as Mass Effect, Final Fantasy IV, VI and IX as well as Chrono Trigger are his favorites. An idealist, realist and a secular humanist philosopher, he hosts the online show Age of Reason that promotes positive Atheism, knowledge and common sense. When he’s not busy taping the show, writing or editing videos, he is most likely busy studying online courses mostly but not exclusively related to science, i.e. Climate Change, Evolutionary Biology, Astrophysics etc...
