OH Ho and BO - Kirsten Marie Wohlgemuth
PROLOGUE
On Christmas Eve, in the year 2000 at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, in Canada, three little characters were introduced to three year old Mackenzie by his grandmother when she conjured up the vision for her grandson’s entertainment.
She snuggled down with Mackenzie and in whispery voice began the story.
How old are they?
he asked
Well, hmm...they are as old as they need or want to be but they can’t remember where they came from.
Later, Emma, Mackenzie’s sister was born and the characters lived on in many different adventures.
The 3 characters, the size of a pointer finger shortened their names when they met. OH is a boy whose true name is Ophraim, a worrier, one who likes to follow others. He asks many questions and says ‘oh’, a lot.
HO is a girl whose true name is Honor, the thinker of the three and uses her thoughts before she goes ahead with any adventure.
BO is a boy whose true name is Boris, rough, tough, and eager to go anywhere and do anything.
Their adventures take place in Canada, Mexico and the United States faced with obstacles of survival, making friends with animals that assist them along the way while staying out of sight and discovery by normal size people.

It was a dark, cold night and a strong north wind hurled them together. One at a time they landed in the back of an old pickup. In the corner of the truck box bunched up was a tarp.
The little ones discussed their situation; soon they realized they could not stay for long in the back of the truck. Bo’s stomach growled so loud the others heard it.
OH trembled, tears squeezed out, I’m hu-hungry too and sca-scared.
Bossy Bo put his thumbs in the straps of his overalls, puffed up his chest and declared, We are brave. Together we shall be a crew, conquer our fears, and overcome our obstacles.
Ho didn’t have a lot to say then. She was busy researching how to solve the problem they would have getting down from the truck box. Hey guys, luck is with us! The tarp has a rope attached. It is draped over the side and touches the ground. All we have to do is climb or slide down it!
––––––––
Pro-proceed with cau-caution, we don’t know what da-dangers lurk beyond.
The crew peered out and saw a humongous house across the wide gravel driveways and crunchy grass covered with a layer of frost. White puffs of breath escaped from their mouths.
I’m so cold.
Ho shivered, I suggest we run fast to that house. It has smoke coming out the chimney which tells me it’s warm in there.
Ho hugged herself, stamped her feet, and rubbed her hands together. Prepare yourselves, there may be giants. Be careful, because with one stomp of a foot it is bye bye crew.
Bo signaled, follow me. They darted for as long as their legs and lungs allowed them. They took cover and rested by big rocks that outlined the gravel drive. When they reached the house they hid behind the down spout close to the door. They had no way of opening it nor could they climb under it because there was a strip of strong rubber at the bottom. They huddled together and hoped for the door to open so that they could sneak in unnoticed.
The door opened and closed. One giant stepped out followed by two smaller giants. There were too many feet to avoid but still they waited...
Again the door opened. Another giant stepped out, went back in, left the door open and in a flash they made it inside.
CHAPTER 2
There’s a dog living here.
HO pointed to two metal dishes—one had water in it.
I’m scared of dogs.
OH shivered as he shook his head.
I’m not scared of dogs or anything at all!
BO said.
"Boys, shh, we need to make friends with this dog. You guys know a dog can protect us? Look up! There on the shelf is a bag, it is Doggy Treats."
Oh, that’s high up. How are we shorties going to get that bag?
OH had a worried frown.
Never fear when BO is near.
With gymnastic agility like a monkey in the jungle BO grabbed a green and yellow scarf that touched the floor and hand over hand he climbed to the shelf. He jumped from the scarf into the open bag of penny size biscuits.
Just then the crew heard the crunch of footsteps. OH and HO
