About this ebook

OUT OF CURIOSITY by Chloe Monet is a collection of three short stories, in which the reoccurring theme is curiosity, both as a quest for answers, as well as the repercussions of said curiosity.

The first story, “Ablaze”, is a fantasy story about mermaid sisters who find a ship wreck on a nearby beach. Wanting to protect her sisters, the eldest, Mara, rises up to the challenge to swim over and gather information.

The second, “Square One”, is a science-fiction and action story, which follows Takeo, a boy of ten years old, who awakens in a mysterious laboratory along side his childhood friend, Hinata. He must uncover the answers to the secrets about himself, as well as his surroundings, in order to over come the trials ahead.

The last story, “Fences Should Keep Things Out”, is a drama piece about a boy named Kieran, who loses his mother to the monsters that his town's fences should keep out. He is forced to make a difficult choice, which will affect him for the rest of his life.
