    The Final Ingredient

Albert adjusted the bright red lamp that rested atop the table in front of him. He looked up from the glowing lantern and gazed at the space around him.

He was seated at a long wooden table that was situated in the center of a huge library.

The area was brightly lit and the yellow illumination that filled the space was provided by hundreds of electric candles that were attached to ten wooden chandeliers that hung from the ceiling.

The walls of the space were filled with thousands of books and a series of wooden platforms and ledges had been built into the walls to allow readers to access the books.

A huge stone fireplace that possessed no fire was located at the front of the room.

A huge rug made from the carcass of a snarling bear rested on the floor directly in front of the hearth.

A large painting of a scowling blonde haired man hung over the fireplace.

The man in the painting was middle aged. He was dressed in a dark colored suit and he was holding a shotgun. He was also surrounded by a pack of white dogs.

Albert stared at the painting. He frowned.

Lord Ansley. You bastard, Albert said. He lowered his sight from the aged painting. He looked at the table in front of him.

Small stacks of old books, a leather bound notebook and a silver ink pen rested on the table.

A bottle of wine rested on the left side of the table beside a stack of books.

Albert's table was the brightest spot in the library.

A total of five lighted glass lanterns had been placed on the wooden counter.

Two yellow glass UV lamps had been placed on the left and right edge of the table.

A moderately sized lamp of red glass had been placed at the top portion of the table directly in front of Albert.

The yellow lamps burned brightly in the quiet space.

The light that poured from the red lantern was composed of a faint yellowish hue. The illumination that emanated from the scarlet lamp was several shades dimmer than the four yellow lanterns that glowed at its side.

Albert looked at a stack of books before he sighed heavily. He leaned forward, grabbed the bottle of wine and looked up at the painting. He raised the container at the portrait.

Here's to you Lord Ansley wherever you are. I hope this trip is worth it, Albert said. He raised the bottle to his lips and took a long drink. He lowered the flask from his mouth with a loud smack. He placed the glass container carefully onto the table.

Well. It appears that 1927 was indeed a great year, Albert said. He hiccupped loudly and beat at his chest several times. He released a low burp and turned his attention to the items on the table.

Back to work, Albert said. He grabbed an opened book and placed it on the table. He opened it, flipped the pages and stopped. He focused on the page.

The low rumble of thunder echoed nearby.

Albert raised his sight from the book. He stared up at the ceiling.

The ceiling was the color of cream. A transparent glass dome was located in the center of the canopy.

Albert gazed out of the domed covering and he looked up at the sky.

Dark clouds swirled in the sky above as the sound of distant thunder rumbled.

Oh no. A storm, Albert said.

A low thump echoed from the far side of the room.

Albert turned to the sudden noise. He stared at the right side
