About this ebook

No space in heaven

Synopsis

Officially, Effiom Ita Beermoney is an archetypal third world policeman: valiant, mean and deified. the kind of policeman his inferiors aspire to become, his equals are envious of and superiors boast about. the scourge of offenders and a terror to criminals, his name and gallant exploits evoke reverence and fear. for his passion and dedication to duty, he rises from the entry rank of an inspector to the superior rank of a commissioner of police; less than the requisite span. however, this pious image of him is created for the mentally gullible class; for in reality, Beermoney is everything a policeman should not be. a personified contradiction and a partial outlaw, he joins the police with one objective on his mind: to legitimise his crimes with the charter of the uniform; and his crimes are numerous and growing yet he is never arrested, arraigned nor prosecuted. in place of punishment, he is rewarded with double promotions, monetary gifts, connections to the corridors of power among other opportunities; in a grossly corrupt and syndicate-controlled police. he appears untouchable until nemesis finally keeps pace with him, when he is abducted by unknown people, murdered, and butchered on the day of what promises to be the biggest breakthrough of his ignoble career and his body parts posted and shared to the police and the press; for different reasons. set in nowhere," no space in heaven" is an experimental, racy, expository and of course quirky literary crime fiction with fusions of mystery, gore, magical realism and macabre humour. it is intended to unveil the darkened and veiled side of a controversial arm of government and the immediate possibility that it has been infiltrated by the low elements in our society hence the need to take an introspective look into some of the alleged misconducts often associated with its members globally.
