From the Eyes of a Son to the Heart of a Father: Revised Edition: 40 Day Study Guide
()
About this ebook
God wants to do a mighty work in the lives of His children. An epidemic of fatherlessness has hit the land with a vengeance, but God has an answer from on High. He says that He will be a father to the fatherless. He will step up and defend the orphan. He made a way through his son, Jesus Christ, to adopt us into the family of God. God is also raising up and anointing spiritual fathers, mothers, mentors, and instructors to fill in the gap left by prodigal dads. These men and women of God will bring forth message of hope and love that we are accepted in the Beloved and challenge us to move beyond flesh to uninhibited relationship with God the Father in and through your spirit via the Holy Spirit.
It is my heart and passion to everyone who has not known the love of a father to experience this great gift through my book, From the Eyes of a Son the Heart of a Father: Passion, Protocol, and Prudence: Revised Edition, and even more personally through this forty-day journey. My hope is that this study guide will be something that you keep with you through out your life and refer to it every now and then when you want to see where the Lord has brought you from or as an encouragement and motivator when you feel distant or off track from your mission.
I have divided the forty days into eight sections that follow the same layout and titles as chapters in the main book. I've also provided a brief excerpt from the part of the chapter I felt led to highlight each day. You will be challenged to forgive, to forget, to release, to let go, to surrender, to pray, to dream, to hope, to trust, and to charge forward with all the Lord has planted in you to do.

From the Eyes of a Son to the Heart of a Father - Dr. Brian L. Curry
Introduction
From Fatherless, to Fathered, to Father
A 40-Day Journey
God wants to do a mighty work in the lives of His children. An epidemic of fatherlessness has hit the land with a vengeance. But God has an answer from on high. He says that He will be a father to the fatherless. He will step up and defend the orphan. He made a way through His Son Jesus Christ to adopt us into the family of God. It is my heart and passion to see everyone who has not known the love of a father to experience this great gift through my book From the Eyes of a Son to the Heart of a Father: Passion, Protocol, and Prudence, and even more personally through this forty-day journey. My hope is that this study guide will be something you keep with you throughout your life and refer to it every now and then when you want see where the Lord has brought your from or as an encouragement and motivator when you feel distant or off track from your mission.
I have divided the forty days into eight sections that follow the same layout and titles as the chapters of the main book. You will be challenged to forgive, to forget, to release, to let go, to surrender, to pray, to dream, to hope, to trust, and to charge forward with all the Lord has planted in you to do.
I start you off light in the first ten days, kind of like a warm-up before a good workout session. But hold on to your seats, it picks up and causes you to dive deep from day 11 on. Each day will give you an opportunity to look deep in your heart and then to look up to your Father, from whom your help comes, as it will provide:
A key Scripture verse
A short, thoughtful passage from the main book that corresponds with the day’s study
Several open-ended questions based on quotes/concepts from the main book that will challenge you to dive deeper into Scripture and/or to pray for fresh revelation from God regarding the topic
Prayer or journaling prompts for deeper thought and intercession, and/or
A closing prayer or thought you can use to start a deeper, focused prayer time in conjunction with the day’s study or repeat in your heart for personal transformation
My prayer is that, during these forty days, you will be blessed beyond measure, that your passion for God and for your family swells, that anything that caused you to feel separated from the Father will be removed, that you receive a healing revelation of the true heart of a father, and that you leave these forty days stronger and more like Christ than when you first picked up my books. To God be the glory for all the great things He will do in you.
Part 1
SMALL BEGINNINGS
Day 1
O Little Town of…
Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be.
—JOB 8:7, NIV
Grant Town, a tiny, little coal mining camp on the outskirts of Fairmont, West Virginia, north of Clarksburg and south of Morgantown, founded in 1900. The population was 613. We had one all-purpose store called Bells Market, one bar, one arcade room with about four different games in it, which actually was a part of another little store in town called Quick Stop, no stop lights in the entire little community, one small post office, and one police officer for the town. Oh, yeah, we had a gas station too.
The White Camp, The Bottom, and Grays Flat is basically how the little town was divided for the most part. We lived in The Bottom. Our house was small and rectangular, two stories if you count the finished basement, off-white in color, with a gray and wooden front porch that had gray and wooden banisters enclosing it.
Modest in its appearance from the outside, although mighty in its inner workings on the inside, is the best way that I would describe my house growing up. Love lived in those walls. Discipline lived in those walls. Faith lived in those walls. We lived in those walls.
As you read my description of my home and my hometown, what of your childhood home and hometown do you remember? What colors, smells, or good eats come to mind?
Though we weren’t a perfect family, I mentioned that love, discipline, and faith lived within the walls of my childhood home. What were some of the core values that lived within the walls of your home?
Think about the city you were born in. What was it known for?
What core values were seen in the lives of the citizens of your hometown?
How did those core values influence how your family of origin conducted itself or how you were raised?
Who can you think of in the Bible who came from a small town? I immediately think of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who was born in the humblest of circumstances in the little town of Bethlehem. But there are others. Read the following passages and write the person’s name in the blank who also came from small beginnings.

Let’s pray:
Lord, while I do not despise the day of small beginnings, I still declare Your promise that my latter days will be greater than my former days. I look back on my humble beginnings, Lord, and I am filled with
