The Manual of Life
()
About this ebook
This is a practical book, an inspirational book with easy but effective steps for any human being to follow so that a joy for life and an appreciation of who we are and where we have come from can be put into practice.
“I am not an old person and do not pretend to have experienced all that life has to offer. After doing the rounds with psychologists, psychiatrists and completing a degree in psychology, I found myself stuck and was diagnosed (and a few times mis-diagnosed) with some pretty big mental health words or labels. It was all good and well to have someone to talk to who was trained in those big words and I managed to move through some of the things that I had been dealing with, with the help of these wonderful people. However, I discovered that there was nothing I came across that worked through these seemingly common place issues, which could be found in one consolidated place.
That is how THE MANUAL OF LIFE came about. This is a compilation of practical advice and tools that can assist you in finding direction, help you get to know yourself and assist you in implementing some strategies to live a happier and healthier existence. You only have one life, so why live it being miserable and holding onto things that do not serve you?
I invite you to work through the steps in your own time, at your own pace and to see how you can better live in this beautiful world, being the best you that you can be and watch how your life unfolds in a gentler and happier way.
Life is a journey, and you deserve to enjoy it!”

Thank You!
Thank you to the people in my life who helped me get through one of the toughest times - I am proud to have something good come from this and to be able to share it with the world. A special thank you to the woman who raised me, Jenny-Lee Bot. I would not be here in this place in my journey without you! And a huge thank you to my mother-in-law who pushed me to find a publisher and helped me finalise everything - this book is definitely a reflection of both my moms. My partner Trent, you have been by my side and believed in me even when I did not and because of that I am a much stronger person! Every special person in my life has contributed to me making this book a reality and you all know who you are - thank you. Lastly, thank you to my doctor, Dr Thriya Ramasar. Your dedication and special attention to all my troubles have changed my life forever and I owe this to you - thank you for never giving up on me and my very difficult diagnosis.

What Do You Focus On?
They say the hardest thing is to know yourself, and when you do that you have mastered life. Getting to know yourself can be a journey, a long one. Everything in life gets a little easier when you really get to know you. Get to know you in your society, in your surroundings, in your family, in your life – in order to change our lives we need to know more about our lives and the lives we live within this world.
We live in a world where we are expected to make money to be successful, be married to be successful; having an extravagant lifestyle and growing expectations are what is placed on us. We experience growing pressure in society to live an easy life where money and little problems give us happiness – but how will we ever know happiness without knowing sadness? How will we ever know success if we don’t know failure? We need challenges, pain, sadness and hardships to develop us into valuable people who change their lives to focus on what really matters.
Joyce Meyer, Oprah Winfrey, Helen Keller, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa...all of these great people have had their own challenges.
These great people did not let the hard times stop them from reaching their dreams. A happy and successful person isn’t so because of his/her circumstances but rather because of the attitudes he/she carries along in his/her life.
Happiness doesn’t arise from trying to get rid of all your problems in life…rather, it depends on learning how to deal with those problems and knowing how to rise above them to enjoy the good things.
We are so busy focusing on things we do not want or have in our lives that we forget other realities and forget the positive in what we do have. For example, having a cheap phone still keeps you connected with your loved ones, or having a difficult relationship can bring
