About this ebook

GHOST TOWN - A Comedy Holiday Short

Every closet has its skeletons and every place has its ghosts.  But, in Hollow Win, this is rather the understatement!  And now that there's a new Sheriff in town, he's quite intent on ruining the party.

If the spooks and spirits can't scare the living daylights out of the living on Halloween ... well, they may as well be dead!  Or find some place else to haunt--and there's no way that the local Mayor is going to let them loose in his city, not when he just got done cleaning it up!

So, it's up to Audra, her brother Owen and the Mayor to save Halloween, Owen's ghostly tour company and their sanity, not necessarily in that order.  But it's not easy dealing with the undead--especially when they are related to you!

Dang blast it!  We bin dirty double-crossed, ya’ll.

Nods of heads and murmurs of mutiny, murder and mayhem sprang up around the crusty old timer as the other folk milling about agreed with his sentiment, if not his outrage.  Some kicked red clods of dirt, others shook their filthy fists and dusty hats in disgust, but all of the assembled mob sure felt the same way he did.

We put up wit’ that varmint since ‘e rode on in ‘ere, but this ain’t proper.

The goldminer’s gaze strayed back to the newly erected sign right on the edge of their tiny town limits, to the wooden stake slammed into the baking hot soil, a sheet of tin metal glinting in the sun.  Etched on it, the new rules for entry into their slice of dusty desert home sweet home.

    It read ...

    Welcome to Hollow Win, Stranger.

We’re peace abiding citizens hereabouts, and a peace lovin’ town, and I aim to keep it that way.  If you can’t keep to the rules, then you and your horse just keep on a’going.

Here in Hollow Win, we don’t take too kindly to:

    Spitting

    Cussing

    Cattle rustling

    Stealing a man’s horse

    Cheatin’ at cards

    Drinking

    Gambling

    Immoderate wimmen folk

Shooting a man in the back
