      Artist's Journal Workshop is a wealth of information and inspiration. Many wonderful examples are included; not all that of the author's. As for technique used, the focus is mainly on drawing and watercolors (rather than, say, altered book techniques such as collaging and stamping). Additionally, encouraging questions are asked: for example "What do you want from your journal?". Johnson's suggestion (p. 8) is: "How you've imagined using a journal is important. You may not end up doing exactly what you imagined -- or even wanting to do what you imagined -- but unless you have a goal, a plan, a vision, you won't know where to start". The(both technical and artistic)information presented here is not intimidating; rather, it is very inviting and has increased my enthusiasm for my own artistic endeavors and journaling. Since recieving this book, I have referred back to it quite a few times.
