      Chanakya also known as Kautilya or Vishnugupta was an influential statesman in the court of Chandra Gupta Maurya, who was the first emperor of Maurya dynasty. He played a crucial role in the establishment of the empire. But he is best known as an economist and philosopher who wrote the Arthashastra, an ancient Indian political treatise. He is considered as a pioneer not only in political science but also in classical economics over the world.

      Chanakya’s birth was approximately in 350 BC but the place of birth is a controversial matter. Some believe his birthing Taxila while some has the opinion that he was born in South India. Being into a Brahmin family, he had his education in Thakshashila, the ancient learning center in India where he later became a teacher. Being gifted with tremendous knowledge, Chanakya had all the capabilities to become a ruler, but the caste system prevailed in India prevented him from that as he belonged to Brahmin community. he had much in-depth knowledge in different subjects politics, economics, war strategies, foreign languages, Vedas and astrology.
