    What is slow cooker?

A slow cooker is a cooking appliance that allows you not to attend home cooking for long period of time at a very low cooking temperature. This appliance is made up of three main parts; the lid (mostly transparent in nature), the vessel (where the ingredients are put) and the base (this part has the heating element).

Some slow cookers have steam vent holes in their lid which allows steam to escape and the wattage have been set in such a way that it will compensate for the loss of heat that may occur.

Slow cooker base is the part that’s obvious, since it has handles, control knob, and stand that make it a little higher above the surface of wherever you may place it.

The part that accommodates your food is the vessels, and often made from stoneware. This heavy stoneware makes the slow cooker maintains constant heat, stabilizes and evenly distribute it.

Generally, slow cookers create heat toward the base and transfer the heat to the sides of vessel so as to heat the food in the vessel. In slow cooker you can set the temperature low, warm and high. Cooking on low heat consume more time than cooking on high heat.

Differences between Crock-pots And Slow Cookers

Construction: Both slow cooker and Crock-pot have the same ceramic or porcelain pot that’s placed inside the heating element and has different shapes.

Heat setting: Crock-Pots have only either low or high and some has warm option, but slow cooker has up to five options.

Cooking: While Croc-Pots work continuously, slow cooker cook in cycles (on and off). Some models of the two have timers that allows cooking for a specify period of cooking time.
