About this ebook

Once, being not too far from the city of Vyazma, I have heard a story about a village, which is protected from any kind of adversity. During the war, it was not destroyed, in the future this land never experienced crop failure. Everyone was trying to find out what a village it really was but nobody could ever find an answer for this mystery. However, I was told about a story that took place in our time. I decided to describe this particular story in detail, without missing a single little thing about it. No wonder there is a saying - “The Devil is hidden in details”.

He did not close the door, inhaled deeply, took the first step to the high carved doors, stopped and stood there, looking at his feet, and raised his head. Stretching his lips, he looked at the doors, at the two concrete columns of the shed above the porch, began to raise his head higher. He could not look at the domes, for this he had to move back, right at the moment, when an additional movement was needed, he froze and stopped raising his head. His gaze never reached the crosses shining in yellow fire, the priest lowered his head again, took a deep breath again, stretched his lips even more now and loudly exhaled the air.

In a second he came closer, slightly shook his shoulders and took a step to the doors of the church. He took this step quickly, almost swiftly, he needed to make another step forward, then his gait would look more decisive, however he took the next step more slowly than the previous one, and the following step was even heavier and more ponderous, writhing from one foot to the other.

In the vestibule, his gait became more rhythmic, and now he was moving evenly, but he was still swaying and waving his arms.

Good afternoon, father, the servant hurriedly greeted him at the candle stand.

Good afternoon, answered the priest and took another step. He did not turn his head, passed the middle part and headed to the sacristy.

Without slowing down, he tumbled down on a chair, and
