Matt doesn't get the real her the way Seth does and she's over trying to be someone she's not...only her plan to break up with him stalls when Matt's life implodes and he decides to ditch football camp for her camp. Lauren can't say no. Not when Matt's so messed up. But how to keep Seth from giving up on her when she brings another boy to camp? Lauren's heart is torn, forcing her to see herself, her friends and her whole life differently in one unforgettable summer where no one is the person they seem to be, especially her.

I greatly enjoyed reading about Lauren at camp. You can't help but feel for her and all she is going through. This read like a very authentic camp summer, and took me back a bit.

In theory, I really should not have enjoyed Camp Boyfriend. Camp Boyfriend dealt with a very controversial subject: love triangles. I usually hate love triangles because I feel like people should just be upfront on their feelings. Who needs so much angst in their life? When I first started reading this book, I thought: “great, I’m going to hate this”. And surprisingly, I didn’t hate it. It was the exact opposite, actually!I’m going to be honest here, Lauren was a bit annoying at first. She decided that she wasn’t going to be with either boy until she sorted out her feelings first, which I really admired. However, in the next scene she’d be making out with one of them. It was really contradictory.Nevertheless this gets better later on. I like how this story wasn’t just about Lauren and her big love triangle. There were also some subplots on friendship, and family, and overall accepting and loving yourself, which I enjoyed.I really liked the romance in this story. Lauren’s relationship with both of them was really sweet and it was nice seeing that she was a different person with both guys. I think at the end her choice was more about which version of herself she liked the most, of if she even liked who she was around each guy.Overall, this was a cute and fluffy book that I read very quickly. If you don’t like love triangles, you may not like this book so much (although I hate love triangles and seemed to enjoy it…).Rating: 3.5 stars

Camp Boyfriend certainly made me a happy camper. This book was absolutely prefect for me. Talk about right place right time.I was on holiday when I read this. It took me about the day. Coincidentally, it was also a really warm day with brilliant weather and I was in a really similar setting to how I imagined the camp. Talk about perfection. It was meant to be.Can I just say that I was Team Matt for the whole book? (I’m not counting the beginning because I judged Matt before he’d even spoken. Then I changed my mind. My review, my rules.) Matt was just amazing wrapped in a ball of amazing. On the topic of the love triangle, can I just say that J. K. Rock seriously kept me guessing until the end as to who Lauren would end up with? Seriously, the anticipation was so high that I could barely contain myself.I have never read a book with a love triangle quite like the one in Camp Boyfriend. It was done in a way that even people who have this mega-grudge against them wouldn’t even have minded. That much.Camp Juniper was absolutely crazy. It sounds like so much fun! I wish they had camps like that where I live. And the councillor Emily was pretty epic. There we go, Epic Emily. My thoughts on the main character, Lauren, are undecided. Overall I wasn’t particularly impressed by her because I found a few of her choices to be most questionable. She was ok but I wanted to become a councillor just so that I could guide her in the right direction. All in all, Camp Boyfriend was a cute and heartwarming story. Perfect for Summer and I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Camp Payback. 4/5 comets!A meteor shower. A great show!
