This book misses the entire point of giving. It actually seems to just want to destroy biblical giving.

Author is more concerned about demolishing tithing practice than exalting Christian giving. Spiritual tithing is and can become a wonderful discipline of giving and also if it is given by faith and not fear has incredible reward on earth and eternity. If you give away what is left of your salary (and what you have spent in a lot of stuff that is not a need), how are you going to give sacrificially???? Seems to me the author has reacted to the prosperity gospel and some experiences (maybe personal o familiar) of church bad administration, rather than being Spirit led to bring a balance: NOT BE TIED TO THE LAW BUT BE EMPOWERED TO GIVE BY THE GRACE/ POWER OF THE SPIRIT.

Preface

THE PRACTICE OF tithing is a long held tradition in the Christian church. It is also a sensitive topic that stirs a great deal of controversy and debate. Many argue that the Bible commands Christians to tithe. Yet we contend that tithing is an obsolete practice that is not applicable to Christians. So who’s right? Should Christians tithe?

The Tithing Hoax answers these and other questions. It uncovers the truth about tithing that may anger some and enlighten others. A book of this nature will challenge many Christians to rethink their traditional beliefs about tithing. Ultimately, The Tithing Hoax aims to expose and correct the false doctrines that keep Christians in religious and financial bondage.

About the Authors

Introduction

IT IS IMPORTANT that Christians read, study and research the Bible. If not, Christians run the risk of being exploited and led astray by false teachings. Most Christians assume that everything they hear from preachers is biblically correct. However, this is not always the case.

For example, we were taught that money is the root of all evil. We were led to believe that money is evil and poverty is righteous. This formed the basis of a pie-in-the-sky doctrine that promised Christians a reward after they had died and gone to heaven.

We now know this doctrine or belief system was based on a misquotation of biblical scripture. The Bible says, "The love of money is the root of all evil." In other words, greed is the root of all evil—not money. Therefore, the proper reading and understanding of that verse has helped change the negative attitude towards money. The church, by and large, no longer views money as evil. However, the changing attitude toward money has
