    This book has been written to help American Christians explore their own opinions on political issues. It aims to spark intense interest in the reader and engage meaningful conversation among family members and small groups. Each political issue includes a brief overview, applicable Bible verses, a list of questions, a related prayer, and an opinion. The opinion has not been included to persuade you but rather to give an example how Scripture can be applied to political issues. Ready to begin?

    Marijuana

    Marijuana is illegal under the federal government in the United States. In spite of the federal law, some states have made it legal for certain purposes with restrictions. Marijuana is legal for medical purposes in many states, but use of marijuana for recreational purposes is illegal in most states. Although marijuana is known to be harmful, people have opposing views on whether it should be classified as a crime or not.

    The Bible warns us to be sober minded and watchful (see 1 Peter 5:8). In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, we are reminded our body is a temple for the Holy Spirit and that we should glorify God with our bodies. The fruit of the Spirit includes self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
