About this ebook

This book is a collection of 45 beautifully crafted poems written over a period of several years inspired by people from all walks of life. The final seven poems are written for people living with a dementia and are based upon my experiences of caring for them, something I thoroughly enjoy.

He's Like Jim But Not As We Know It - Henry Johnson

    Part One

    A Hearty Tale

If someone you loved tore out your heart,

    How would you fix it?

How would you get it back?

    Would you get them back?

    Would you put them right?

    Would you see things right?

    Would you weep,

    Take your flight?

Or would you whisper to yourself,

In the dead of the night,

    Where no one could hear,

    Lend yourself your ear,

    With nothing to fear?

    Feel your way home,

    And surprise yourself…

    That’s right,

    You don’t need brains,

    You need guts,

And you come out hungry for more.

    Oh Yes!

    Settle the score,

    They’re asking for more,

    One clean hit,

    He’ll be on the floor.

    I’m not a fighter,

    What would that do,

    It’s not even the fact,

In this world he could sue.

    I will mock,

    I will embarrass,

His secrets are safe with me,

    Ha, ha there’ll be crowds,

He’ll be down on one knee.

    That’s what I’ll do,

    Much better that way,

    Don’t underestimate,

    Don’t worry, he’ll pay!

    O' Life

    Is life a diversion
