About this ebook
Hang on for a wild ride. The Edge of Nothing and Everything - book two of the Jump Starting the Universe Series.
The Jump Starter given to them by Prenetian worked, but they had no idea how to control it. Amelia was still screaming when their 1957 Nomad station wagon dropped out of the jump onto a desert plain and plowed to a stop in the deep yellow sand. They were bewildered by what had just happened and glad to be alive.
Two large moons hovered near the horizon in front of them as the sun went down on the mountains behind. They stood next the car mesmerized by the scenery. They had no idea what to do, or where they were, or where they were going. To get back to Joules' home planet, Gafcon-49 they would have to figure out how to fix the Jump Starter.
Blackie didn't want to alarm the others, but he suspected they were being followed. Nita was shocked to discover she had been misled about the death of her dad and brother, and she intended to do something about it. The rest of the group insisted on helping her. Unknown to them, a centuries old dispute raged throughout this universe, and before long they not only knew about it, they were right in the middle of it.
Every ounce of intelligence and luck would be needed if they were to survive. Wayne was sure something weird was about to happen - again - and it did. They would never have guessed they would soon have a new traveling companion. When things spiraled out of control, Mark and Nita had to make a difficult choice. Afterward, all six of them would wonder if they made the right decision.
John David Buchanan
I am a fan of historical fiction and science fiction. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas and played sports, watched science fiction shows on TV, and played the drums in a garage band. Attending Southwest Texas State University where I received a Masters Degree in Biology helped launch my career as an environmental specialist. After working for the State of Texas and two consulting companies I started my own small business, Buchanan Environmental Associates. Along the way I picked up guitar, learned some blues licks and ultimately co-founded a Pink Floyd cover band as the lead guitar player. Reading J. K. Rowling's entire series of Harry Potter books with my daughter, started a two-year creative journey resulting in my first book, Jump Starting the Universe. Although I jumped ahead and wrote an ending to the book when it was only half finished, that ending went unused. "The characters just didn't want to go that direction." Since then, I've completed books two and three of the Sci-fi series, the Edge of Nothing and Everything, and World Eaters. I've been to London several times and thought it would be a perfect setting for my first historical fiction novel. 1800s London was an interesting time period, with all the grisly issues of that day. The Obsession of Doctor Pendergrass was conceived to tell the story of a protagonist who loathed the horrific criminal activity in London, and decide to do something about it. The story line weaves through plenty of historical facts and then gives a unique twist to one of the most infamous criminals of that day. If you trace Pendergrass' travels about London, you'll need a good set of maps from 1868 - many of the roads he travelled are no longer there.
