About this ebook
"GurUber" is a word meaning Uber Guru. These are real stories of Uber passangers in search of a more successful way of living. They are real people; only the names are changed to protect the guilty. Ha. The book demonstrates that as a society "we are all in it together" and we can each help one another have a much better day just by what we say, think and do. The book is a convergence of wisdom and Self Actualization on a collision course with Enlightenment and all the living attributes that accompany that. It is more than a message for the mind; it is a massage for the soul.
TED COFFMAN
Dr. Ted Coffman was raised on a cattle ranch, "The T Lazy J", just outside of the famed Cowtown of Dodge City, Kansas, and retired to a small registered quarter horse ranch, "The T Diamond D", just down valley from Aspen, Colorado. His poems and stories reflect the background of a ranch life and a cowboy lifestyle. When travelers stopped at the Colorado Ranch to ask to take pictures of the majestic towering Mt. Sopris Mountain immediately behind the barn, just across The Crystal River, he would often walk them down to the river's edge near the roaring rapids and their A-framed guest house for the best views. It was on the back porch of this ranch house where he got much of his inspiration for "The Best of The West", and many other of his books, CDs and writings. He started living the cowboy life about as soon as he could walk, and he has just never saw the need to abandon it. He now devotes his time to writing, providing seminars and success coaching thru his company Success the Cowboy Way. It is his genuine hope that he and his work can be the inspiration for full stimulation of the mind, warming of the heart, and uplifting of the soul, thereby enhancing liberation of the Human Spirit. Happy Trails till then. We wish you the greatest of Success The Cowboy Way.

The ☺GurUber
and SASSY - The Little Red Rolling Chapel
Book 1
––––––––
INTRODUCTION
For years people have been inclined to share their stories with their barbers, manicurists, stylists and bartenders, and now they are sharing their most intimate stories with their Uber drivers. I think of myself as a man of God, A Personal Development Trainer For The Brain and an Uber driver. These are some real-life stories of miracles created by God through me in the few minutes of an Uber ride in my little red rolling Chapel, Sassy
. Almost all names of my passengers have been changed to protect the dear souls about whom these recollections are written. These stories of fear, anger, worry, guilt, jealousy, frustration and upset as well as love, peace, joy, hope, satisfaction, serenity and a compelling sense of completion are the myriad of colors that make up the rainbow of life. Reading these stories allows the reader to begin to focus on our similarities rather than our differences as a community; a sense of oneness rather than an experience of separation, and therein lies the secret to a happy, healthy, wealthy, loving, kind, gentle, cooperative, harmonious adventure into life, and the foundation of a functional world.
This fusion, parenthetically, happens in a new little red Ford Fusion, which I refer to as my rolling Chapel, Sassy
. I call her Sassy
because she is Ecoboost fast
, and she wears a red dress
. This work is not endorsed by, nor does it represent the opinions of either Ford Motor Company or Uber. I am just a self proclaimed
guru, as I have never gone to guru school
. I’m merely a country cowboy with a kind heart who wants to serve people by giving them the possibilities of meaningful insights that have worked for me to make me happier, healthier and wealthier for many decades. These are not intended to be advice or recommendations, but rather a smorgasbord of possibilities in the field of infinite possibilities
that Deepak Chopra, MD writes of. I also share what doesn’t work
as I probably have more experience operating in that domain. I invite you not to believe the possibilities that are written here, but rather to experiment with these concepts in the experience of your own life. If your life improves through you utilizing a particular concept or principle, then ride on; if not, drop it like a hot rock. Most often the solution we seek does not come from having or doing more. Rather, more often our progress is linked to what we give up rather than what we add. Perhaps that letting go leads to the destination called enlightenment
or lightening up
. The GurUber’s job is to get you to your desired location as quickly and as safely as possible, even if we must invite our passenger friends to re-calculate
with their opinions and life processes from time to time. By the time you finish this book you may be a GurUber too, even if you don’t even have a car. All you need to do to discover your GurUber Self
is to help people be happier, healthier and more successful, and I think we can all do a little more of that.
Almost everyone hops into my back seat and asks, How are you today?
, or some other similar question. I usually respond the same way, I’m having a great day. I tried it the other way, and it doesn’t work for me
. That usually produces a laugh, or at least a smile, and it sets the table for a hearty discussion about their day, their life, and their problems. I usually prime the pump with questions like, How is your day?
or, How happy are you on a ten point happiness scale right now?
, or maybe What is your biggest stress today?
Frequently they respond with, Are you just making conversation, or are you really interested?
I tell them, No, I’m really interested in you and how you are doing. What’s up?
That launches us off into the arena of issues at the heart of being a complete human being. Satisfaction comes from completion, and it is my intention to help people get at least some insight into what the possibilities are for them in how they might move on to improve their experience of their lives. It was the great educator, Oliver Wendell Holms who wrote, "A mind stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimension." If I can share but one meaningful idea with each passenger each trip, then both of our lives will be the better thereby. You may want to sit the book down after each story to be with the value of the story. Finishing this book is not a race. On the contrary, it is an opportunity to slow down and let go
. You are tilling the soil of your life, and planting the seeds for success. These are the some stories I have heard my first few weeks as the GurUber
. My first story for you is the first story I heard, and it firmed up my intention to help as many people as possible, as much as possible, as quickly as possible, as professionally as possible for as long as possible, and to publish the stories so that others may benefit from our brief time together in the little red rolling Chapel, Sassy
. Miracles don’t need to take all that long, you know. Miracles Can Happen In Minutes
THE POWER OF NON JUDGMENT
Reverend Kylie Renner shared yesterday in our church that chaos brings with it the possibility of a miracle. The possibility doesn’t come from the Universe; it comes internally from our incredible power to select our response to stimulus. We have been given a human body, time, the stuff life is made of, and the incredible power of choice. Those are some of our most important gifts coming in. What we do with them is our way of saying thanks for the gifts.
Ron was my first Uber passenger. He called about 9 PM from a popular local brewery. He had been there a short time with friends, but he wasted no time trying to swim away from his troubles in the bubbles of the brew. He quietly lumbered into the back of my little red Chapel, and closed the door respectfully behind him.
I said, Hi Ron
.
He said, Hi Ted.
The Uber app shows the driver and the rider who to expect.
He softly asked, How’s your day?
I cheerfully responded, I’m having a great day. I tried it the other way, and it just didn’t work for me.
I said, How’s yours?
He paused for a moment and asked, still looking down, Do you really want to know, or are you just asking?
I said, No, I really want to know how you are. What’s up?
He started to cry. He put his hands over his face. My wife just had an affair with my best friend
, he blurted through the tears. He pushed his hands to his eyes as if to hold back the cascade. It didn’t work. The tears flooded right through between his fingers. I asked if he was certain, and he said she had told him herself.
I said, What are you going to do, Ron?
He said, I don’t know.
He said the pain is so bad, I can’t think.
I could see immediately, this fella has two problems: the overwhelming pain, and the fact that his wife and his best friend cheated on him. First, he must decide if he wants to stay or go.
I said again, Ron, what are you going to do?
He said, again, I don’t know
.
Normally I would inquire, Who should I ask?
in order to introduce some levity, but this was neither the time nor the place, at least not yet. I continued, Looks like you can stay or leave? Which sounds better?
That really increased the salt leavened fluid fountain flow, which for the time was a good thing. It has been said, A good movie just allows us to cry the tears that we have been wanting to cry, but didn’t feel we had a good enough reason to do so.
It’s good not to resist the pain when it wants to push out. He pushed out a lot of pain in just a few moments.
I wanted to help him release all the emotion I could, so I asked again, Would it be better for you if you stay or go?
He struggled thru the tears, I really love her, and she is a great person. I would rather stay, if I can just handle the pain.
I said, "How
