About this ebook

Saving Eden 2. Chapters 1 to 15. More Ecology Romance.

(new edition)

"Is it a bird… or a plane… or another labor pain?"

Since falling hook, line, and sinker for globetrotting English ecologist, James, Eden, and her son Jamie's worlds have changed for the better.

Then, life changed even more after they left the past behind, and moved from Kentucky to England.

It was time to distance themselves from the wreckage and ghosts of their past, for once and for all.

A new life, with a new love.

And low and behold, it worked!

At least it seemed so.

Until the skeletons holding on to them from the past came back!

Rehabilitated and reborn.

As if dealing with unemployment, and her joyous, and unexpected pregnancy wasn't enough to cope with?

Now, their universe is about to be turned upside down for a second time.

He's out!

Eden and Jamie will soon have more than heartache on their minds.

The full-time loser, and part-time father, is on the loose again.

And are the rumors true?

Has he found God?

Or is it just another faceless ploy to get what he wants?

And after all this time… what does he want?

Redemption or reconciliation?

Or retaliation and revenge?

Come and find out, in the second book of the Saving Eden Trilogy.

David Attenborough:
"I am 94. I've had an extraordinary life. It's only now that I appreciate how extraordinary.
As a young man, I felt I was out there in the wild, experiencing the untouched natural world - but it was an illusion. The tragedy of our time has been happening all around us, barely noticeable from day to day - the loss of our planet's wild places, its biodiversity.
I have been witness to this decline. A Life on Our Planet is my witness statement, and my vision for the future. It is the story of how we came to make this, our greatest mistake - and how if we act now, we can yet put it right.
We have one final chance to create the perfect home for ourselves and restore the wonderful world we inherited.
All we need is the will to do so.
We MUST rewild the world."

A romantic comedy with an ecology slant!

Let us be good stewards of the Earth we inherited.

All of us have to share the Earth's fragile ecosystems and precious resources.

Each of us has a role to play in preserving them.

If we are to go on living together on this earth, we must all be responsible for it.

    Chapter one: Final descent

G ood morning Stansted tower. This is Captain, Luke Horowitz of flight RH2135 from Rio to London. We are on final descent for runway twelve. Our current altitude is fifteen thousand feet and we’re at a steady180mph with a negligible tailwind of 35mph. Conditions are fair and dry, and we are requesting final clearance and confirmation for landing, over.

He relaxed the receiver to his lap and waited for a reply:

Received, flight RH21350. This is Stansted tower receiving you loud and clear. There are no overriding issues to report this morning and I can confirm you are clear for landing on runway twelve, over.

Luke smiled, then glanced over at his younger colleague.

I forgot to ask, are you getting up to anything interesting while you’re here, Mike?

Not a thing. Same old, same old for me, Luke. I’ll be in and out of London faster than the wife spends the pay-check. I hope you enjoy your weekend here though.

Faster than that, eh? Nice one, he replied instantly thinking about his cash-cow wife. I’m sure I will enjoy it. I’m a sucker for the place, he replied with a thoughtful smile. I just wish my wife would get over her incessant Monarchy love. She drives me crazy with it. Especially when there’s so many other things to see and do. He replied fastening his shirt button then tightening the knot of his tie. I spoke to her yesterday. Do you know she’s been touring the Royal palaces, for four days, straight?

    Never!

Yep! I’m darned at the appeal. She’s seen them all twice, already. I can’t get past that. What’s worse is... it’s probably costing me a small fortune in the process. Would you believe I’m meeting her outside the gates of Buckingham Palace?

No way, he grinned with a damning shake of his head. Women huh. Can’t live with or without them. Each to his own, I suppose. No offence, Luke, but I just can’t go for all that sanctimonious nonsense. I did visit Madame Tussauds once upon a long ago. But that was nothing only a second-rate, rip off, he explained as without warning a sudden, and unidentified thud came from the Captain’s side of the plane, followed by another, somewhat distant bang seconds later.

    What the hell was ...?

I’m not exactly sure. I heard it sir, but I didn’t see a damn thing on the console? All the dials, the SSC’s and SFF screens look fine, he explained sounding somewhat uneasy.

At that moment, a cabin steward at the other end of the plane grabbed her phone and rang the cockpit:

    Hello, flight deck.

Hi sir, sorry to disturb you, sir. It’s no biggie. But we just wanted to inform you we had a very loud bang back here, she gulped as her heart played a deafening, nervous beat.

Yes, same here. Thanks for your vigilance, Sandy, he concurred recognising her voice. Everything that needs to be, looks in order, he replied scratching his head in confusion.

"Oh, do you want us to do a run through? The passengers are asking questions.

Well, erm, I know we’re way past seatbelt threshold, and already on descent, but yes, please. Do a walk through and reassure the passengers, he implored, eyeing more dials and consuming more technical information than his brain could process. We may have to ease back on descent and undertake a once around safety circle in all honesty. But if you give me a minute to double check, I’ll get back to you pronto with our next move

Of course, sir. Right away, sir. I’ll try to allay their fears, she responded, rubbing her hand across her worried brow and quickly replacing the phone whilst unbuckling herself.

Within seconds, her phone rang again:

    Sandy?

    No, it’s Christina.

    Christina who?

The trainee. Sandy’s gone for the aisles, erm...

Oh, I see, the new kid on the block. I’m sure you’re aware of the situation, but we can’t find anything wrong at all. The external playback showed a dark shadow. We think it may have been birds. Maybe singular, but it’s hard to tell, he explained looking over at the Captain for what else to say. There was diddly squat on the radar, and all our instruments are fine. All safety systems indicate we’re still good to go, so Luke... I mean, the Captain is going to get us down to terra firma ASAP. Once we’re passenger free, ground crew can check if this bird got hit by any other birds, if you catch my drift. Can you get word to Sandy and then get yourselves buckled back up?

    Chapter two: Bracken cave

James’s attuned his ears away from his music to the interrupting ring of his phone that was now cutting out the enjoyable orchestral swathes of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons that had been suitably blocking the jarring noise of his rattling
