    Jonathan is not the strongest young man in his home village. That would be his older brother Jason. He isn't the tallest, best looking, or funniest either. Again, that would be Jason.

    Jonathan doesn't mind though, he and his older brother share a deep bond that connects them more fully than their differences could separate them. They work together in their family fields, go swimming at the fishing hole, and sometimes they play tricks on other farmers in the village. Whatever they do, for good or ill, they do together.

    Until the army recruiters come along, that is.

    When Jason is recruited to fight in the Troll Wars deep in the Murkle Quags, Jonathan is left behind because he is too young and too scrawny.

    Soon thereafter letters stop coming from Jason and Jonathan's own letters are returned unanswered.

    While others write Jason off as a dead man, just another casualty of the Troll Wars, Jonathan sneaks away from his village and braves cutthroats, giant snakes, and even the deadly Murkle Quags themselves to go behind enemy lines and find his brother.

    Armed with only his wit and a bow, he is determined to succeed where most warriors have failed.
