About this ebook

Travis talks about being autistic and having extreme anxiety. He shares how trying to mask his autism for so many years created anxiety and paranoia that left everlasting mental health impacts on him. Travis gives the reader examples of how he copes and overcomes anxiety while providing tips and strategies for managing your anxiety. This is a great tool for autistic people to have in their lives.

Masking who he was and hiding his autism from others was a copping skill Travis learned by accident. Now he is on a mission to unmask his autism and show everyone his authentic autistic self. He shares how he spent years doing things he didn't enjoy to please others. He also did those things because he had convinced himself that was the only way to happiness and true friendship.

This is a book of self-realization on behalf of someone with Asperger's Syndrome. Travis sees the real value of who he is and his autism. He no longer avoids bringing autism to the table when meeting anyone, it is one of the first things they hear about. Read along as Travis builds his self-esteem and encourage other autistic people to do the same along with him.

    About the Author

    A Super Anxious Aspie

Anxiety can be a crippling force for many people. People with Asperger Syndrome often experience extreme levels of anxiety. For that matter all people with autism likely experience anxiety regardless of what their functioning levels are.

It’s not hard to imagine the extreme anxiety that comes from not being able to communicate with someone.

It is easy to imagine someone who is non-verbal not being able to communicate with others but what about the people on the autism spectrum who are verbal and can speak. Are they able to communicate with others effectively or do others communicate with them effectively?

With a different way of thinking neurotypicals and aspie’s alike can experience extreme struggles in social communication with one another leading to severe misunderstandings and a person on the autism spectrum unable to communicate their most basic human needs.

Thankfully there are many things people with high functioning autism or Asperger Syndrome which I will now refer to as AS throughout this book can do in order to more effectively communicate who they are and what their needs are to society.

People with AS are their biggest advocate. No one else is better at explaining who they are and what they need to other people than they are. Therefore, it is important to work with someone who has AS early on to help them develop the important self-advocacy skills to help communicate to others who they are and what their needs are.

It might not always be easy for us to communicate what our needs are as aspies and sometimes we will feel like we are jumping through brick walls in order to have our needs met. This was especially true for me with the autism and mental health systems in which I was to get care for having autism.

It was hard for me to communicate my needs not because I didn’t know how to communicate my needs. I was very straightforward with people working with me and honest about what I needed. I often don’t think people took my needs seriously or they just didn’t care that I had needs because I was autistic, I’m not sure.

When I was unable to communicate my needs to the people trying to help me it caused me to become very anxious. I was so anxious that I was paranoid. This went on for years and I felt like it was a constant state of paranoia because no matter how hard I tried to honestly and bluntly communicate my needs I feel as if I was ignored or pushed away. I have even been told that my needs are not needs by my staff from time to time and that has really given me paranoia because I
