Fallen in Sin - Marissa Farrar
Chapter One
N o, I won’t do it.
The fallen angel Ruax knew it wasn’t a good idea to go against Satan’s wishes, but the last thing he wanted to do was spend any time on Earth.
Flames roared and spurted, surrounding the Devil as he sat in his majestic throne carved from bones of the dead. It was hard to look directly at the creature that ruled the beings of the underworld, and when Ruax was able to, he only caught glimpses of the demonic creature—a long nose, cheekbones that jutted out angularly, thick lips and a wide forehead. The Devil’s eyes burned red from beneath a shelved brow. The flames surrounding Him seemed to know when Ruax had looked upon Him too long and roared up afresh. Yellow, orange, red, even white in places. They were burning hot, enough to disintegrate a mortal man, though they gave off no smoke.
I’ll sweeten the job for you, Ruax,
Satan said, the fallen angel’s name sounding like a cackle from his lips—Ruu-ox.
Ruax scowled. I’m not interested in the small amount of pleasure from a mortal girl, if that’s what you’re offering. Any memory of that will be gone like a flash of light. It’s nothing in the expanse of our existence.
Satan laughed. Oh, it’s better than that. How about I offer you back your wings?
That made him pause. My wings. You’d do that?
In exchange for the girl.
Ruax pursed his lips. What about her is so important to you?
That’s none of your business,
he snapped. Since when do you get to question my motives?
Ruax scowled and lowered his gaze. He didn’t. No one did.
He didn’t want to take Satan’s offer. Lucifer was up to no good—of course He was. He was the devil. And while all of the fallen angels were doing his bidding, they normally did so from the relative safety of the underworld. Actually going on Earth and walking alongside mortals put a bad taste in Ruax’s mouth. He’d never wanted to do it when he’d been in Heaven, and the one time he had hadn’t ended so well for him. He’d found himself cast out and down here.
Explain exactly what you want me to do?
Ruax said eventually. A part of him knew he’d never win this argument.
Just go onto Earth and corrupt this woman. She’s as sweet as they come and I need to her to be... not so sweet?
Ruax narrowed his eyes. How sweet? An innocent?
Yes, she’s an innocent.
His eyebrows lifted. A virgin?
Lucifer laughed—he liked to laugh. No, not a virgin. Are any grown women virgins these days?
I guess not.
Do you want to see her? I think when you do, you’ll have a change of heart.
Ruax gave a shrug as an answer.
Satan lifted his arm and pointed above him, then swirled his finger in a big circle, clearing the flames from that one spot. In the gap the flames had left, the world of mortals could be seen. It was a street, in the daytime, buildings either side of the road. But that wasn’t what drew his focus. From the back, he watched a woman walking down the sidewalk, her long blonde curls swinging down her back. She was curvy—a large, round ass on top of thick, shapely thighs. Her bottom bumped from side to side as she walked, mesmerizing him. Her figure nipped in beautifully at the waist, and he found himself longing to know what the front view looked like.
The Dark Lord’s lip curled, having read his thoughts. As you wish.
With a wave of his arm, the scene in the portal changed. This time, the young woman walked toward them.
Ruax’s heart caught. She was even more captivating from the front. A heart shaped face, full lips, and big blue eyes. A small nose and flushed cheeks were in its center. She wore a high neck sweater, demurely covering the large swell of her chest. He was tempted to send some of his power forth and tear the material from her body, desperate to see what she wore beneath. Was the bra lacy or smooth, black or white? From the size of her breasts, he thought she’d have large nipples, but were they pink or more tan in color? He’d heard others joke that more than a handful was a waste when it came to a woman’s tits, but he thought that was bullshit. He liked a pair big enough to bury his face in.
So?
The Devil asked as he watched curiously. What do you think?
What’s her name?
Eva Mathias.
Ruax twisted his lips. And all you want me to do is corrupt her?
He nodded. That will be enough.
He didn’t like the idea of spending time on Earth, however. The place stank, and was cold. Plus, he was able to feel pain and tiredness, and all the other sufferings mortals had to endure during their brief, traumatic little lives. Of course, Ruax knew he wouldn’t have to put up with all the discomfort for long, but even so, he didn’t relish the thought.
I don’t know...
he said, still hesitant.
The flames around Satan shot up, burning brighter, higher. You don’t know?
he roared. I’m offering you something very few of my minions ever get the opportunity to do—return to Heaven. All you have to do is corrupt one human, and you’re saying you don’t know? How about I use something else to destroy her? A car’s brakes failing, perhaps?
In the portal, he saw a car heading toward the woman suddenly skid, brakes screeching.
No!
Ruax yelled.
Or how about a gang of young men, willing to corrupt this young woman against her will?
Again the view changed to show a gang lurking right around the corner from where she walked.
The thought of all these men screwing the curvy young woman made Ruax’s heart turn cold.
Just stop,
he said. I’ll do as you ask.
A slow smile spread across the Devil’s lips. I knew you’d come to your senses. I never doubted you’d refuse me.
I might have said no. After all, what would be the life of another girl to me?
You forget, I know you better than you know yourself. I wouldn’t have chosen you if I’d thought there was any chance you would refuse me.
Ruax held back a growl of annoyance. I said I’d do it. Where is she?
New York City. It’s a fun place. You’ll enjoy it.
His lip curled in disgust. Busy, smelly, and cold. Just what he hated the most. He thought fun would be the last thing he’d have if he was trapped there. But then he remembered the way the woman’s backside had moved under her pants and the large swell of her breasts beneath her sweater, the way they’d jiggled with each step. He might hate the city, but perhaps he could find some pleasure in being there. He wondered how hard the woman would be to corrupt. His time spent on Earth would be frustrating and dull if she blocked him at every opportunity. Of course, he had special talents mortal men didn’t possess—the ability to make a woman feel and think things they never thought themselves capable of.
Once more, Satan read his thoughts. Remember, you won’t have any of your powers or strengths when you walk upon the earth. You won’t be able to make this girl come just by looking at her. You’ll have to work for it.
I’ve never been afraid of a little hard work.
The Dark Lord chuckled. "Glad to hear it. This won’t be as easy as it looks
