About this ebook
What could be more heart-warming than to hear your child read God's Word for himself? Unless you're a Sunday school teacher, you might not realize that your child can read the Bible and he readily volunteers along with others in his class when the teacher asks who wants to read a few verses of Scripture. Most children want to read from the Bible if they can read.
God has built worship into your child's heart, and reading the Bible is part of worship. Psalms Together, a first journey into Bible reading aloud, will form a precious family bond that can carry on from one generation to another.
Psalms Together is meant for daily devotions with your children, second grade and up, to read and listen and hear what God says to us. It can also be shared at Thanksgiving dinner with many participants, or at Christmas using the Christmas story from Luke 2 or at baptism celebrations. Be creative. God's Word is alive and powerful, and your enthusiasm will be caught by your child. Bible reading aloud can be part of your lives, a time of togetherness to look forward to.

I like to write, read, teach, sing, play the piano, swim, cook, play in the yard, and walk by the ocean. I prefer coloring books to plain paper, summer to winter, daytime to nightime, and morning to afternoon. I like large families, but I prefer to visit with one friend at a time. I love to study the Bible and discuss what God is doing in the world today, but I can't handle really scary adventure novels. I am more interested in people and animals than in rocks and plants. I tutor reading and writing and prefer second graders. I live with my husband Bill and cat Sasha in the center of California.

PSALMS TOGETHER
Worshiping with your Child through Responsive Readings
As a child, one of my favorite parts of our church worship service was the Responsive Readings. I felt grown up and a part of the church when I read the Bible aloud with the rest of the congregation.
The minister announced the number of the selected Reading located in the back of the hymnal, and after a fluttering of pages, he began. I knew which part to read because it was printed in bold type.
The Responsive Readings were arranged topically, so sometimes when the sermon seemed long and hard to follow, I turned to them and found subjects that interested me more. Some I read over and over because it seemed God had the best ideas on the subject.
I knew the Bible was never meant to be read only on Sundays, and my love of reading it in church gradually grew into Bible study on my own. Today, reading the Bible is part of my daily worship of God. It is also my radar system to teach me, reprove and correct me, and train me in righteousness. (II Timothy 3:16).
I have heard preachers say, Lord, we praise You for Who You are and what You have done.
I want to cry out, Say Who He is!
Tell me what He has done so I can worship Him, too!
The following Psalms do just that.
How to Use This Book
The 23 Psalms (NASB) in this collection are chosen for their brevity and ease of understanding for children in the family. Most are praise. Each Psalm is divided into phrases to be read responsively so the adult is supporting and encouraging the child as he/she reads the Scripture. Remember as you read, God has promised His Word will not be without influence, "without accomplishing
