PROLOGUE
The Beginnings
It was just another busy day in The Big Apple , traffic was slow as usual and the streets were crowded with people, New Yorkers and tourists alike. With the exception of a music festival going on downtown, there was nothing unusual happening today.
In a coffee shop not so far from where the event was being held, a young woman sat, impatiently waiting for someone to show up.
She was an African American in her late twenties, dressed in a formal attire which gave the impression of a corporate worker. She was anxiously tapping on the virtual keyboard of a tablet computer and taking a look around and outside from time to time to see if someone was coming in or if she was being watched.
Half an hour later, the person she was waiting for finally showed up. A middle aged white man in a sweatshirt and jeans, with glasses and a backpack slung over his shoulder.
Sorry I'm late, I got followed, had to lose my tail
He said as he took a seat at her table.
This was the best place you could think of
she asked, The obvious is the last place they'd look my friend, we're safer out here in public
he replied.
He took out a folder from his bag and handed it over to her, It has all the information you asked for
he said and then added a brown paper bag, And that's your new identity
he said.
She put them into a briefcase she had under the table, and thanked the man.
Are you sure about this ? The man asked and went on
They'll come after you and the kid, they've already got the girl at the diner"
We're at war Mike
she finally said after a few moments of silence There's nothing we can do but keep fighting to the end
The man nodded as if he understood, and was about to say something but when he looked up, she was already long gone.
Chapter One
Late Again
Beep, beep, beep
That was my alarm clock, late again I thought, I forgot to set it to 4am last night, so it's definitely 6am, I have missed the early morning class again, how can I forget something like that ? But then again how couldn't I ?, I forgot to take my books to school yesterday and that got me into loads and loads of trouble and a long lecture from Miss Adams the biology teacher.
But luckily
