    Preface

There are many thoughts competing for attention inside my mind but I’ll keep this short.

It has taken forty-six years to become a published writer and Quintessential Quotables can give testimony to the truth of this statement. It has been a very slow, long, topsy-turvy journey full of doubts, fears, mistakes, and countless hours of waiting for just the right moment to get started. But, I did get started. And more importantly, I finished.

When I was young I was very obedient. I got educated, fell in love, got married, and snagged myself what you would call a real job and lived a happy life. But throughout the years, my soul, the dreams inside of me, remained restless. I yearned for something more.

I waited too long and wasted so many years waiting to be chosen. I waited desperately for someone smarter than me to come along, look me in the eyes, and tell me I had something valuable to share with the world. I have always longed to be connected to everything and I longed for that mysterious person to discover the greatness inside of me, that I always knew was there. If you’re anything like me, you know exactly how desperately I wanted to hear that I was good enough but that mysterious person never came.

Instead, on an ordinary overcast day in November of twenty sixteen, after many, many years of waiting, I finally chose to be someone I have always dreamed of being.

I became a writer by the deliberate and daily act of writing. I finally followed my heart and hope my efforts help others follow theirs. Quintessential Quotables is the beginning of that reality. It is the fulfillment of a promise—, a promise to do my best, to share my understanding of being human, in an effort to connect with others and make the world a better place.

There seems to be an overwhelmingly infinite number of wonderful motivational, self-help books available but I think there is room for one more. I humbly hope so anyway.

Thank you for connecting with me through this work. I hope you find a treasure here, something valuable that will help you live more meaningfully. I hope you get after your dreams. Don’t wait any longer to be chosen because your value is self- evident, and like for me, it’s your time too.

    Sincerely,

    Grzegorz Kieszkowski

    How to Read this Book

I would never, ever, tell you how to read this book, a thousand times never… but I will.

Quintessential Quotables might be simple in scope but it’s very mighty in purpose. It aims to be a harbinger of change and so, each succeeding volume will contain thirty-one quotes, thirty-one reflections, and thirty-one notable quotables for you to ponder.

I recommend reading one reflection per day, because each individual entry needs its own time and space to make an impact, but ultimately, how you read this book is up to you.

Quintessential Quotables doesn’t intend to explore any one idea with any depth. It aims to become a spark and it was written to help for you reimagine your life, reconnect with your dreams, and to shake things up a little.

The quotes were carefully chosen and the reflections were numbered as a matter of reference. Feel free to read them in any order you desire and as many times as you wish.

Above anything else, I hope you find this book useful and that it becomes for you whatever you need it to be. I hope it becomes your daily companion so that you can become an even greater person than you already are. I hope it helps you to embrace the destiny which awaits you.

People often say that motivation doesn't last.

    Well, neither does bathing —

that's why we recommend it daily.

    Zig Ziglar

If you are waiting for that glorious feeling of euphoria to sweep you off your feet so you can get at it , you should stop. You will never be anywhere tomorrow if you don’t get up and do something meaningful today. You’ll find yourself unsatisfied, unfulfilled, and trapped. You’ll be forever longing for that glorious feeling of euphoria to come back again. Try some hard work instead over a long period of time and resist instant gratification. It will be well worth it in the end.

Nap time is over. Wake up and seize the day. The sun has risen, so get up, stretch, and grab a sturdy shovel. Brace your feet ever so firmly, connect with the honest earth, and begin digging. Dig tirelessly. Work relentlessly and forget about motivation or inspiration for the moment.

Just start digging with persistent urgency and purpose. Dig your ditch long. Work it deep. Make it wide and get ready to receive your fill. The rain is coming as it always does, and if you don’t ready yourself for its
