About this ebook
Everyone has a dream of how they would like their life to be. Some actually make it happen for them. That, in a nutshell, is what success is all about. But what defines success for one person may be very different for another. And how do you decide when you’ve achieved it? Does it have an end point or is it a sort of mirage that we’re always striving towards?
This book contains a collection of quotes on the theme of success from many well-known personalities, both historical and contemporary, most of whom we would regard as successful.
Whilst they don’t all agree on what success is, each one contains grains of the truth for you to reflect on. Reading these quotes will help you decide what you want, how to achieve it and give you motivation to forge ahead.

Snippets of Success - Dave Farnham
INTRODUCTION
What is success?
This seemingly innocent question has about as many possible answers as the one that asks, Why are we here?
The fact is that defining success depends on what you actually want from life. For some the answer has to do with making money. For others it’s fame; or power, love, job satisfaction, being the best at a chosen sport... The list is endless.
A more pointed question is, "What is the key to success?" And again, there is no single answer.
In this book I have collected the thoughts of many successful people on the subject, all expressed in short, quotable, bite-size chunks. What quickly becomes noticeable is that if you were to put all these people into one big room and let them debate the subject, there would be a lot of conflicting ideas. Yet paradoxically, what is also clear is that there is truth to be found in all the quotes included here.
If you take each quote in turn and use it as the basis for a personal search for what you want from life, you will discover the inescapable truth that if you want it strongly enough you can make it happen.
This is not an instruction manual on success; personal success comes from within. Rather, it is a book to reflect on, and be motivated to produce your own success. There may be some statements you disagree with; but even disagreement can help you to formulate a way forward for yourself.
I wish you well in your personal quest!
The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people.

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.
Abraham Lincoln

Success or failure depends more upon attitude than upon capacity; successful men act as though they have accomplished or are enjoying something. Soon it becomes a reality. Act, look, feel successful, conduct yourself accordingly, and you will be amazed at the positive results.
William James

Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort.
