    and tear of friends' embrace.

    The day begins.

    Raindrop

    slides to tip

    of vinemaple leaf,

    strains release

    of gathering weight

    and falls followed

    by another.

    Veins of water

    run together

    a lace of life

    to adorn growth

    or death

    the same morning.

    Forest and garden glisten

    in a rivermist

    sitting on the valley.

    Golden Ears ripens

    in the gradual light

    over Mission and Surrey;

    Whistler and Garibaldi
