Chapter 1. Jordan
I had just sat down when I heard my name called out, Jordan!
This wasn’t unusual, the boss had a habit of calling people into his office in this manner. I have no idea way. Everybody had a phone on the desk and a computer and most of us if not all owned a mobile phone. It’s not like he couldn’t have walked up to us and invited us into his office. And then why would he only call out first names? Surely there must be more then one Jordan on this shift. Still I poked my head up to see over the partition and gazed towards the office. No just me, I could not see any other heads poking up. Jordan!
As soon as the boss had seen my eyes catching his he called my name one more time, turned slowly around and disappeared into his office leaving the door wide open. Oddly enough this was only one of two doors in the whole warehouse. That’s of course if you don’t count the roller door, which I have never, seen open. The boss’ office was inside a modified shipping container, which was flanked by two other containers. His was the office block, the container on the left was the girls’ toilet and on the right the boys’ toilet. The toilet blocks had doorways but no doors not even to the cubicles. But that was fine since they were so cleverly designed that I actually didn’t mind at all.
As soon as the boss disappeared back into his office I slowly stood up fully, had another look around just to make sure nobody else had stood up and slowly strode towards the open door. I carefully stepped over the doorsill, turned slightly back and slid the door closed behind me. I was amazed as usual how quiet the office was. You couldn’t hear any of the voices, noises or humming I was used to in the rest of the warehouse. It was absolute silent except for my heartbeat. I could not even hear the boss sitting there in front of me and carefully watching my progress. It wasn’t my first time in this office but I had never felt so nervous and exposed.
Come in Jordan, take a seat,
the boss called cheerily. He pointed to a seat to the side of his desk. Thank you boss,
I answered shyly and took a seat. I was so nervous I wasn’t sure what to do with my legs or arms. I decided to keep my legs close together and clutched my kneecaps with my hands. I had been many times in the office but never had I sat so close to the boss. Usually I was offered the chair across the desk from him. I felt so exposed sitting opposite him. There was nothing between us. He looked me up and down, with a quizzical expression on his face. What have you done to yourself, Jordan? I hardly recognized you today. Is this a one off or ….?
His voice trailed off into silence but he kept eyeing me up and down.
I felt like he was scanning every inch of me. I wondered if he had x-ray vision or something like that. Boss, this is me now. I am still the same person, same voice, just different clothes. I will still do the same job,
I answered nervously trying to avoid his eyes. This whole situation didn’t feel right. How did he know that I had changed? I didn’t even have enough time to prepare myself for this.
Boss? Call me JJ. All my friends call me JJ. There is no need to be so formal Jordan. It’s not like this is your first chat with me. After all you have been the Top Dog for the last three months running,
JJ said casually.
It was true I was his cash cow. I didn’t really mind since I was paid a healthy bonus every time I reached the monthly goal. I had carved myself a bit of a niche marked by being able to quickly pick up Asian languages.
After a short pause JJ continued, Are these real?
At the same time he placed his hands on his breasts and moved them up and down.
Yes Bo..JJ. They have always been here. I just decided to dress differently and wear my hair open from now on. I am still the same,
I answered truthfully. I had been growing my hair for a wee while now but I usually wore it in a tidy ponytail. Today was different, my hair was flowing freely and I loved it.
Jordan McNamara quiet liked his name. According to him it had a sound about that gave him an exotic background. Jordan also discovered that it didn’t matter what he was the name still fitted. For a few years now Jordan didn’t think himself as a boy or a girl anymore. True, until recently he dressed as a boy but she didn’t feel uncomfortable as a girl at all. Until his
