    Eyes down, Annalise stepped quickly onto the Calgary cross-city bus. For a long ride on number forty-six. Finding a seat tucked in beside the window she slipped her Halo-T’s down over her light braided hair. She could tune out the world around.

    Looking to eye-screens she picked HaloTell and touched Lauren.

    Hey girl, she visi-Texted.

    Hi Lisi, her friend voice spoke. She must be alone at home, as usual.

    Gonna be a totally boring ride, she texted. "Je m’annuie."

    "Ah, mon cher. They sat next to each other in French. No gangs on the bus?"

    Not funny, Lisi stared hard into her eye board. I’d never come over except day time.

    She glanced sideways, checking out who just sat down in the next seat. Shopping bags squeezing in told of a mature lady and she let out a calmer breath.
