About this ebook
I used to think that I would never experience happiness in this lifetime.
Growing up, I felt like there was something wrong with me. Things only got worse as I got older. The world seemed to me a very dark place. Life felt painful. I became suicidal. For years, I used to wake up every day wishing that I were dead.
Now, most days, I feel hope and joy. I’ve learned how to really listen to Jesus and how to receive healing for the hurts from my past. I’m coming to know the truth that sets free.
In the first part of this book, I share my struggle with depression and how I was able to find healing and true freedom in Christ. In the second part, I provide prayer exercises that you can do with a partner and I explain how you, too, can get freedom and hope through Jesus Christ.

Introduction
In this life, everyone has done things that are wrong. Everyone has been wronged and wounded. Some of the deepest hurts can happen when we’re young. As a result, we grow into adults who are broken and hurting, but we try to put on a good face. It wouldn't do to go around crying all the time, so we push the feelings away and we try to tell ourselves that everything's all right. But we're still hurting on the inside. They say time heals all wounds. But it's not true. Instead, the wounds fester in the darkness as we try to forget about them. Some people consider suicide. We just want the pain to stop.
But what if you could actually get free? What if you could come to the place where it didn't hurt anymore? I used to think I would never experience happiness in this lifetime. But now I do. I used to wake up every day wishing that I were dead. But now, those days are very rare.
I've been a Christian since I was a child. I thought that, whatever work God wanted to do in my life, he would just do. Because I still hurt, I was frustrated. I questioned God. You made me! Can’t you fix me? Why won’t you help me?
Eventually, I came to the place where I believed that God wanted me to be like this—broken. That, for some reason, God didn't want me to have joy in this life. But that was just another lie from the enemy.
Now I’ve found the secrets to being able to experience more and more freedom and joy! God made us. He can fix us! And he wants to!
Jesus promised us in the Bible, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
(John 10:10b) God wants to give us life to the full! Being wounded and incapacitated is not God’s perfect plan for your life. Jesus can help you and set you free. If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
(John 8:36)
For me, the keys to gaining the freedom and the life to the full that Jesus promises were listening prayer, repentance, forgiveness, recognizing and neutralizing the devil’s lies, and inner healing.
In Part 1, I briefly share some of my personal story, where I’ve come from and how I am now walking into freedom and life to the full with Jesus. It may be painful and uncomfortable to read about some of the things in my past, but I think a lot of you will be able to relate. And I think that sometimes it’s important to talk about the things that have happened, especially within the context of seeking healing for those things. I’m sharing my story with you because I think that knowing where I’ve come from will help you better appreciate
