Hi, I'm Dennis! I write books for everyday Christians who want to build their faith. I believe that you can have a rich and rewarding spiritual life - even if you didn't go to seminary, or learn how to read Greek and Hebrew. The tools of the Christian faith don't have to be a mystery. That's where I want to help. I write books that cut through the confusing terms and present spiritual truth in everyday language. I'll show you how to get the most out of your Christian life with the tools and knowledge you already have. I'll break it down until it makes sense and you can do it for yourself. You can think of me as your personal guide on your spiritual journey. I grew up in a pastor's home. Some nights, the dinner table felt like a seminary classroom. But the result was that I was given a deep love of God and the Bible from a very early age. As an adult, I built on that foundation by pursuing learning and study on my own. I still haven't gone to seminary, I don't think that's necessary to pursue God. I have impressed God's word on my heart and made it central in my life. I've been studying the Bible myself for over 30 years. For more than 20 of those years I've been teaching others what I know. This experience, both of study and teaching, has shown me what everyday Christians want to know, and how they like to learn it. As an author, my purpose is to capture what I know and give it to you. When I left home for college, my dad gave me 2 books which have been profoundly influential in my own ongoing development. The first was Decision Making and the Will of God by Gary Friesen. This book has given me a degree of freedom from worry and stress that is wonderful. The second book was Independent Bible Study by Irving R. Jensen. It showed me a great way to study the Bible and learn the truth of what it has to say. Even to this day, I use this method in my own studies. I look forward to sharing journeys together. I hope you find my books encouraging and helpful. Dennis

Jesus Above All - How We View Jesus Shapes How We Worship Him - Dennis C Stevenson Jr

    How’s Your Worship?

Deep down, we all crave amazing, powerful, authentic, life-altering worship. We want to worship fully and completely with our entire being. We seek to lose ourselves in worship that is truly greater than ourselves.

But, if you’re anything like me, worship is fickle. Sometimes it’s really good. Most of the time it’s sort of blah.

You might go through long periods of empty worship and then have one amazing Sunday morning. But it seems impossible to return to that worshipful aliveness later on.

I confess that all too often I see God as barely bigger than I am. In my busy life, I don’t devote enough focus on who He really is. So I treat Him like everyone else and everything else around me.

When I need something, I ask.

When He does something nice, I say thank you.

The rest of the time, He’s just part of the background.

And so I struggle to find worship that I think is real and authentic.

If you can relate to any of that, then this book is for you.

Jesus is the object of our worship. Who He is should dictate what our worship is like. Too often I see Him as an unremarkable part of my daily life. In the pages of the Bible we see Him revealed as so much more.

If we could see Him the way He truly is, I mean really rest in that vision of Him, our worship would never be the same again. It would be transformed, uplifted and revitalized.

Sometimes we need a reminder of what we already know. This book looks at four biblical snapshots of Jesus that will blow up the way we think about Him today. You’ll probably find the passages familiar. But the picture of Jesus they paint is probably completely different than how you see Him or think of Him right now.

How we see Jesus has everything to do with how we worship Him.

If you want a new kind of worship, you need a new kind of eyes. Biblical eyes. Spiritual eyes. Eyes that see Him how He truly is.

Embrace these four visions. Soak them up. They will change not only how you see Jesus, whom you worship, but they will change how you see yourself in relationship to Him.

At the end of this book, I have some practical so what applications. I
