      Clifton pushed away from the wall and dangled the basket in his hand. I come bearing food, workaholic. Are you hungry?

      His sensational boss pushed her seat back and stood. Her face broke into a huge smile.

      How nice of you, Clifton.

      If you can’t come to the dining area, I’ll bring the food to you. Should we eat?

      Ambling with one hand flicking through her hair, Kemi skewed her head. I’m starving! Let’s go out to the sundeck. She took his hand and led the way to the alfresco area overlooking the sea and the sky.

      Laughing as he walked behind her, he stared at her backside. Good view from where I’m walking.

      When they got outdoor, she pushed him against the glass wall and pressed her palms on his chest.

      Stop staring at my backside.

      Then stop walking in front of me.

      Clifton clipped her wrists with his right hand, cuddled her waist with his left hand and lowered his head. Can I kiss you here?

      No.

      He did anyway, flashing his lips past her mouth a few times.

      Parting her lips, she shut her eyes and leaned closer, inviting his tongue to chat inside her mouth.

      A full charge of voltage coursed through his body before he poached her mouth with his own.

      You are fired, loafer! Get off my yacht! Ricardo was in one of his notorious temper fits.

      Whoa! Another job loss in the middle of the week, the still small voice in Clifton’s head groaned. To be honest, his hardened jaw dropped to his muscled chest and his fair skin flushed quickly. The abrupt order hit his head with a bang. Now was not the time to get laid off from his job as a waiter aboard the luxury transatlantic cruise liner.

      Clifton’s fingers tightened around the fine silver platter handles in his hands. I’m sorry, sir. I think there’s been a misunderstanding, he tried to explain as he set the food tray on the kitchen counter.

      Ricardo Morales, the Italian billionaire tycoon and President of Oceania Oil and Gas, grabbed a harmless crystal glass from the tray and smashed it against the white and grey backsplash, his face contorting with rage.

      Clifton–recruited less than two months ago to work as a waiter in one of Ricardo’s on-board restaurants–ground his teeth. His lacklustre explanation-cum-apology only seemed to enrage his boss.

      The rest of the serving staff caught in the cross fire flinched. Glass fragments flew in multiple directions. Thankfully, Clifton’s two-piece black and white suit uniform served as a capable armour against stray shards of glass.

      Get off my yacht! Call security to take this pig-headed slouch– Ricardo barked, patting his pockets in search of his mobile phone.

      From behind the furious billionaire, someone countered. Come work for me, Clifton Rutherford.

      The even-toned offer, made by a new entrant into the state-of-the-art kitchen situated on the second floor of the La Bellezza interrupted Ricardo Morales’ outburst.

      Clifton’s green eyes shot straight at Kemi Adenuga, the glamorous woman who occupied the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh floors of the yacht. He narrowed his gaze at the lady in red. Why would a woman I’ve never met make me an on-the-spot job offer?

      No way, Kemi! Ricardo snapped. Stay out of my way! This brazen waiter is out of control. Turning to the head chef who stood quivering from head to toe, Ricardo woofed. Get security to take him off my property.

      Point of correction, Ricardo, Kemi inserted with a sharp stare that tamed the billionaire. "I own part of La Bellezza. I’m offering Clifton a job."

      The woman–dressed in an outfit that probably cost more than the property Clifton grew up in Portsmouth, England–clasped her hands together in front of her as she faced Clifton.

      Come and wait at my private table upstairs. I’ll triple whatever Ricardo paid you, with benefits.

      It did not take Clifton more than five seconds to consider his options or more accurately, his only option. Throwing a scathing glance at his former boss, he nodded. It was hell working for you, Ricardo.

      The Italian mogul spread out his hands, his face reddening.

      Glad to be rid of his old boss, Clifton worked up a wicked grin and flashed it at the woman who had taken a few steps forward to stand near him. It’ll be an honour to work for you, madam.

      Although he knew almost nothing about his newly-acquired boss, one thing everybody agreed on was that she was a sensational workaholic. With Kemi standing close, her sexy scent slowly eroded his good sense and her eyes–the colour of warm date fruit–moved around his features with purpose. There was no way her gorgeous eyes were real. Were they?

      What are you doing? Ricardo raved, coming to stand beside Kemi. This idler isn’t worth your precious time or money. He placed one hand on her arm.

      Kemi stared at Ricardo’s fingers and arched one groomed eyebrow. Do you mind?

      Oops! Serves Ricardo right. In that split second, Kemi cut a picture of a snooty sensational star, but her personality worked for Clifton. It was great to find someone who could put the foul-mouthed billionaire in his place, especially when the person was a remarkable woman with a human soul. He was convinced many people borrowed their souls from demons.

      Seriously, this chap is a liability, Ricardo repeated to Kemi who returned her gaze to Clifton.

      Residing on the yacht was like living in a small town. Everyone knew everyone else’s business. Even if you did not want to be a part of other people’s lives, they made sure to include you in their lives. But as far Clifton knew his path had not crossed Kemi’s in the last couple of months.

      In her red high-heeled sandals, Kemi stood taller than Ricardo’s five-feet-eight inches or so, but her eyes stopped at Clifton’s chin level.

      The woman’s red painted lips formed into a small smile and she shrugged her shoulders as she said. You’re hired. See you on the fifth floor in fifty minutes. Is that enough time for you to get your things?

      Clifton’s eyes brushed across Kemi’s square shoulders bared in her one-shoulder, hot-red jumpsuit. Her red outfit complimented her brown skin which was the colour of unpeeled almonds. Under the bright lights of the bespoke kitchen, her arms and shoulders glistened, trapping his gaze a little longer. Not to mention her curvy hips exhibited in the shape-revealing outfit.       With his eyes darkening with fierce anger, Ricardo grabbed a plate and threw it in Clifton’s direction. But his former employee was already out of harm’s way. While Ricardo’s string of curses reverberated around the kitchen, Clifton brushed the foul words from his shoulders and swerved his thoughts to a new life working for Kemi Adenuga.

      Folding his arms by the bedroom door, Justin’s eyes dimmed with mischief. Why do you think she offered you the job? What was she doing in the kitchen anyway?

      Looking up briefly, Clifton shrugged. It’s called divine intervention, Justin. My mama must be praying for me night and day.

      Wash your mouth with vinegar. That’s not funny. Clifton snatched his clothes from the shelves and hangers, piling them on the bed one after the other.

      Lifting both hands, Justin bowed. I apologize. Maybe Kemi wants to screw you.

      Incensed by the remark, Clifton turned from packing his clothing into one bag and stamped Justin’s chest with his heavy rucksack.

      Thrown by the blow, his friend sputtered. Crazy Clifton! Watch it, you’ve adopted Ricardo’s temper.

      Instead of standing around being a nuisance why don’t you pack my shoes and work clothes, huh?

      For only ten percent of your wages. Justin crowed, gathering the dry-cleaned black jackets and pants into a fit-for-purpose cloth bag.

      What do you do with the money you earn? No parents, no siblings. No girlfriend as far as I know. A quick thought occurred to Clifton. I hope you’ve not being gambling in the casino?

      Picking up one shoe, Justin waved it in the air. Call me a gambler one more time and I’ll chop off your head. You won’t need it where you’re going.
