Learning his love
Raising support is hard. It’s not physical work that tires your muscles or breaks a sweat—but it certainly can tear your heart into pieces, especially if your heart does not understand God’s.
So I had said my two words and put myself on a one-way fast track to teach in Bolivia. I didn’t really know what to do next. It was March and I still had ten weeks left in my student teaching, graduation, and moving out to accomplish. Support raising was put on the back burner and lumped with the notion that if this was God’s desire for me, he would provide my way. Besides, I thought flippantly, doesn’t it say somewhere in the book Matthew that if God cares for the sparrows how much more will he care for me?
A wonderful lady from my mission had me starting the process of creating a support letter. I made multiple drafts, all of which sounded like glorified cow dung, and finally settled on something a little less than cliché, but definitely filled with pictures of me and children from previous mission trips for dramatic
