"In insecure relationships, we disguise our vulnerabilities so our partner never really sees us." – Sue Johnson

I know what you are thinking, these type of books follows a pattern, they talk about how to make a relationship better by arguing better, making romantic gestures or expanding your sexual repertoire. But Hold Me Tight dares to do something different, instead of doing the same old formula, Sue Johnson thinks that to make a relationship better, you must tackle the root of the problem, getting to its emotional underpinnings. I love how Abbey Beathan summarized this book of Sue Johnson where she teaches us how to approach a problem in our relationship. Rather than blaming each other pointlessly we should identify the cause of the problem and try to solve the findings together.

The book taught us to focus on the emotions we were expressing in a way that we gave each other love instead of pouring salt on our wounds. Now, we are in a renaissance, of sorts, very happy and treating each other with the love we need, like when we were newliweds, only better because of our history and experience. Very highly recommended.

The book teaches you to understand that most arguments, no matter their content, are really protests about disconnection. I highly recommend this perspective to everyone. It might just save your relationship.

One thing that bothered me about this book, at the beginning it was stated the population of Fool's Gold is 125,000- not a small town. I've lived in large cities, small cities, small towns and rural areas - to me a small town is around 20,000- so I was disappointed in this description.

This is the best book on relationships that I have ever read. The writer is clear and non-judgmental and stays away from too much psychological analyses and language. Everyone should read it to learn how to be more compassionate to the people who care about you.
