May Violets Spring: The Ann Kinnear Suspense Shorts
()
About this ebook
Childhood memories flood Ann Kinnear as she enters St. Andrew's on the night before Easter. But this time, she's a hired hand with a mysterious assignment. When she learns what that assignment is, she's pretty sure she's not the person ordained for the job--but she finds her shaky confidence in human nature bolstered by the tale that unfolds against a backdrop of misplaced guilt and the true meaning of faithfulness.
Not a traditional Easter story ... and likely not the right pick for readers looking for Christian lit!
Lay her i' th' earth,
And from her fair and unpolluted flesh
May violets spring!
— William Shakespeare, "Hamlet"

Yeah, it would be a trip down memory lane,
replied her brother, Mike.
Maybe for you, not for me. I flunked out of piano lessons, remember?
Ann tossed back the last of her wine.
Mike refilled her glass. She’s such a nice lady.
Didn’t you call her the Dragon Lady?
asked Mike’s partner, Scott.
I did not.
I think you’re scared of her,
said Scott, taking a sip of his wine.
I was six,
said Mike. She used to make me play scales until my little fingers were bloody stubs.
She must be about a hundred, right?

Jeez, she seemed ancient then.
She took another sip of wine. "Have you even seen
